General Discussion / Re: Help with wifes gift
December 20, 2010, 02:31:42 pm
You know in reality my Wife and I have made a joke/ game out of our gift giving because like Cheryl we buy what we want when we want it. I once sent my Wife flowers at work and since I always use the same florist I was able to request delivery during her lunch hour, and I had them put a card  on them without an envelope and it read: "Dam you were good this morning" Love John, Needless to say all the other ladies circled my wife's desk clucking for an hour, and I might add she got even!

My Wife expects the worst from me and I do nothing to disappoint her. he - he

Life's not worth living without a little fun/ humor in it, Merry Christmas and all the joy of the season to everyone

General Discussion / Re: Mooring cover for Pontoon

Forgive me for being so dense but when joining the two lengths of material do you put in a dart from the point of the first pole, or is that one straight seam?

After doing a search that Hickory Springs outfit that Kodydog mentioned has 11-16ga paper wrapped wire listed as OEM products, Kody dog do they sell to us?

You can tie the zig-zag springs in a restaurant booth seat together by clipping stake wire (tempered steel wire with paper wrapping it to prevent squeaking) to them, and I use 16 gauge.

A good used Hartco (spelling ?) clip tool to attach paper wrapped stake wire to zig-zag springs, or a sub. that works well at a reasonable price.

This brings up another question, how much higher in the center than the outside railings do you make it remembering this cover is only going to be used in the  summer time when it sits on the boat hoist no snow.

My opinion is that under no circumstance can you greatly exceed the price you commonly charge other customers provided it's same same type of work and materials, but when it's custom work all bets are off. Having said that I as well as most people will recognize what your trying to do and it might just hurt you. In a past life as a commercial appliance salesman I was bidding close to a $100,000.00 worth of appliances to a new customer with several large apartment complex's and the way I approached it was to ask "how do you want to play the game" best price first or I inflate the price so I can give you a discount? My customer laughed and of course took the best price, and I might add I sold him many more 100's of thousands of dollars worth of appliances!
