I also think the service is a great idea. Most "dinette sets" in campers are all cushions. Matching the existing fabrics in the rest of the RV is not important they just need to go with the rest or replace the rest also. As for the rest of the services for re-upholstery well that may not work. But cushion work can definitely be done long distance given the old covers, or good measurements. I would prefer to receive both. I rarely trust anyone's measuring skills except my own. Not a bad idea to add as a service.

Yes 65 it depends on where you are. Money is the deciding factor on what people want. If They can afford it they like it. I like living in an area where the glass is half full. That's the half I like.

I have to look at the other side. As I normally do. I know trades people, designers, upholsterers, etc, that have been around a long time and when ready to retire come up with all sorts of reasons why the business' are dying. I see it from another standpoint. I see many new people coming into the business. While the have different ideas, and are very trendy they are there and willing to make a go of it. All business types change. They go through cycles and in the end are really still there. Different maybe be there non the less.
I don't want to start a political discussion here honestly but this thing with tariffs on good from China. Could very well be a turning point for the Walmart way of thinking. Walmart is saying they will raise prices of these products. If they didn't only offer these products maybe they or should I say we wouldn't be having these problems. Maybe it will be a good push for the people to buy our products instead.
Anyway.. The Walmart world will go someday and be replaced buy something else just like Montgomery Ward, Sears, etc. etc. And hopefully the American people will see the value in keeping quality products and re doing them. Furniture being the one we care about.

I have tried pay for clicks before and gave up on it and to be honest all paid advertising. I will run an add on FB once in a great while but that is it. And I'm pretty sure I'm done with that also. I never get a Return for investment from paid ads.

I guess I should have called it the bobbin case. The part that is removable and has the clasp on it. Maybe the spring is not as strong as it once was. They are not expensive and well worth a try.

New bobbin case top.

The Business Of Upholstery / Re: Dealing With Stress
March 28, 2019, 03:49:55 pm
As Chris said the stress of having employees lives on you is hard. I worry more about payroll than anything. But I do think it is better to have them than be a sole worker. If I slack off a bit I still get work out. It does make life a little easier and when you have good people it helps a lot.

I agree I do 98% of estimates through pictures and email. I have pretty much eliminated the old in house calls and estimates. In this day and age it would financially kill me to do it the old way. Way to many tire kickers out there.

She is right. As long as there is Dacron on top it works. No sense in wasting the foam.

I'm surprised you got the fabric back on Steve. I would turn that part down and make them get new fabric. But it looks great.
