General Discussion / The virus
March 18, 2020, 05:31:20 pm
I just want to wish you all a safe and healthy time. We are going through a really hard time here. An experience most of us have never dealt with and we will all need to come together and deal with in the best way we can. It will be a long ride but we can all do it. Stay healthy and do what needs to be done to keep this virus at bay as much as possible.

General Discussion / French Seams
October 19, 2019, 12:12:46 pm
French Seams are not what we assume.
There has been much discussion on French seams. I was always under the impression a top stitched seam was a french seam. Others call a baseball stitch (two seams) parallel to the main a french seam. I just did a headboard and the client wanted french seams on it. The designer sent me pictures for example. Neither top or baseball are truly french seams. A french seam is basically a small 1/2" or so flange. Look it up and there are YouTube videos showing them.
I thought I would share this education with you guys and gals.

The Business Of Upholstery / Water based foam cement
February 22, 2019, 05:23:36 pm
I have found water based foam cement. In a group I belong to on Facebook it was discussed and a name dropped. I called the company and ordered a 5 gal tub. It should be in on Monday and I will review my findings. Watching the videos was amazing. More to come.

The Business Of Upholstery / weird bug here.
October 24, 2018, 03:31:49 pm
weird bug here. I'm sure Im not the only one but when I post or reply and then try to post or reply again to another subject it wont allow it. I think it something like you cant post another one so quickly. I had to move on and come back to post a reply. Not very friendly software as I have said before.

Does anyone offer a military discount? If so how do you check if they are military? I know there are online places but is there an easier quicker way? Do Military people carry their card? I'm thinking of offering it but don't know how to.

General Discussion / Sewing neochrome
May 31, 2018, 06:28:54 am
I'm having an issue wit too stitching neochrome vinyl. The feed dog seems to catch on the vinyl causing a jam and it cuts into the vine a little. I have adjusted the dog so it is centered, loosened the foot pressure, sprayed the vinyl and machine with wax. Nothing helps. I remember this happening b4 but am unsure if it was neochrome. Other vinyls I've seen lately are fine. Any ideas?

I posted this yesterday and I guess it was one that didn't make it. Anyway..
Does anyone have a recommendation on down blend filled envelopes and cushion cores on the east side of the country? I stopped making thee in house and want to fins a better source that Pacific. The quality of the products are not the best there. I know of another one in California but that seems like a long turnaround and a large shipping bill.
  Thanks

General Discussion / The Facebook
March 31, 2018, 07:07:14 pm
So all that use Facebook. Have you noticed any changes there? It is like there is less and less use and more and more fillers thrown in. I hear Zuckerman used our data to make some big bucks and it is catching up with them. It's too bad greed took over. Anyway I was just wondering how others see their feeds changing or not.

The Business Of Upholstery / New fancy nail gun
December 04, 2017, 06:57:22 pm
The new brass nail gun.
I haven't mentioned it here but Denis got me going on this and I bought one too. It is a great addition to the tool cabinet. I've only done one job with it so far but that one was a breeze. No pain in the fingers holding the nails. It worked fine close to finish wood. And even taking the time to load the board thingy it saved some time. Well worth the 200 bucks. And it runs on like 75-80 lbs. Just a shot when you pull the trigger so it works on all our compressors.
