Hey Mojo,
Say hi to Syracuse for us. Thats where were from.
62
I had a police officer come in a few months ago needing a cover for the camera on the roof of this huge vehicle used in emergency and terror use. I was happy to order the fabric and make it for free.

I'll get him next time. I'll just have to double the fee I guess.

When a customer specs a certain product it is on them. As long as it is stated this is what is you want in the paperwork what else can you do. I would explain that EZ isn't very good vinyl and that's it. It is his or her choice. All we can do is educate.

The Business Of Upholstery / Re: Reviews

I get several emails each month from prospects thru Yelp. I think I have the business listed there but didn't pay anything to them. Yes I just looked. I just have business information there and have received 49 RFQs so far. I don't know how many turned into paying customers but I do get inquiries.

I agree with Steve,
I have known there were false reviews for many years. But the icing on the cake was a product I bought online and a year later it died so I wanted to get another one. In the process I got an email asking if I wanted it for free. Of course I did. The girl said all you have to do is give us a good review on eBay and it will be free. I think it was eBay not sure f it was there or amazon. But you get the idea.

Not that I'm aware of 65. Are these numbers for feet or welt cord sizing?

gene,
I don't want to sound harsh but it seems you are over thinking this. Why do you need 1" foam on the sides to support a top piece of foam? Build your top 1"larger than the box and cover the sides with 1/2" or just Dacron. or even 1/2" and Dacron. Let the wood top support the foam on it. Seems like a lot of foam on the sides. And the 1" will compress when the fabric is put on.
  Just a thought.

1/4" for 5/32.
If you are seeing the stitching close to the welt cord try a larger size foot or a smaller cord like 4/32"
----
Foot size        Welt Size
1/8"                            1/32"

3/16"                          3/32"

1/4"                            5/32"

5/16"                          7/32"

3/8"                            9/32"

1/2"                          13/32"

You guys crack me up! How fun would it be if we could all get together?

Well, I think I may have been imagining this wrong - I live in coastal Ca, therefore, I have no land. I was thinking to remove the seating frame from vessels, and bring it back to my shop (house). Will this not work?

Certainly it would if that is acceptable with the owner. One other thing to confide and I'm not sure how it works in Ca but marinas like to get into the contractors pocket with fees when you work on the boats. Something you would want to know about so you can add it to the estimates.

I might be one that called it dirty. Cars and boats are. I find the dirt gets on my work areas and can find its way to white furniture. I also am at an age that I don't want or should I say can't crawl in cars and boats to take them apart. So the excuse that they are dirty helps me fool myself into thinking that is the reason. Knowing ones self is cool.
  Anyway.
There is good money in boats if you stay away from small ones and gear up for the larger ones. Small boats with the back to back seats are money suckers for the owners and the shop working on  them. Also realize there is always hidden damage on a boat. More so that a car or chair.
Go for it 65 just be smart about it.
