Mojos  hotknife Theadore made me think of the dumb tool of the trade I spent money on.

I bought some lousey plyers that were susposed to be used to install turnbutton grometts turns out there too short channels lock would
be better.  I bought one of thoose portable butane hotknife pens you had to light it and wait for it to get hot. To do what with it   He $200 swing away binder I don't use.

Dicks  clips well they kinda work but don't have the holding strength of clamps.
Anything stupid you bought ?

Yeah, a spray glue gun.  I bought one too big and its spray pattern is too big,  gets glue on everything.  Our winters are too cold for outside spraying year around. ::)

For me, it's this:

It gets "backed up" WAY too easily. And my 30 gal. air compressor can't keep up with it.

I use mine to seal zippers i forgot to do in the shop :-)

I bought a big bag of suction cups thinking I could
stick them on a boat screen as a place to anchor patterns
to. while pulling the material out from the stern.

Oh and the other stupid thing i bought  ,    a sewing machine  hehehehhe

I used to work for a guy who could never pass up a good deal. One day he bought one of these brand new for half price.

He had a really nice Bosch foam cutter and when he got this he used it a few times and then it sat in the corner for about a year. I didn't have a foam cutter so I bought this for half his price. About $100. Six months later the motor died. I had an old Montgomery Ward jig saw and switched the blade assembly to it. Only problem, the screw that holds the blade in place was striped. So It sat in the corner two more years.
I finally brought it to my neighbor the welder to see if he could fix it. He can't weld stainless but had an old Skil saw with the part I needed. It's worked great for about 1-1/2 years now.
There cannot be a crisis next week. My schedule is already full.

I bought a Pig Ear Notcher to put darts in welting so it would turn corners, paid about $7 at my local Fleet Farm Store.

I once worked for a place that used a Bazooka, worked real good for down and feathers, we never used chopped foam and we had a big compressor.

thats not so stupid ? I have a pattern notcher and use it to make location marks
in vinyl so the boxing and plate match up. also the notch can be seen both sides
of the fabric so no need to hunt for marks when you turn the assembly over.

Mojo

I use my pig ear notcher all the time when making welts. Is yours not working John ?

I just got a kick out of the re-purposing of a farm tool in the upholstery trade!

QUALITY DOES NOT COST, IT PAYS!

This is a stupid tool thread, but I want to ask a stupid question:  Why notch a pigs ear?

Another one; why won't the pig notcher not notch woven fabric?  Just not precise enough?
