Well, I have a Consew 199 R.  It's the one I posted about timing issues a couple of weeks ago.  BTW, I got her up and running and as always a beautiful stitch.  Straight or zig zag.  I think, because I came from a family of household sewers, I am more in tune to think of zig zag.  I love its versatility.  Small, tight stitch to applique, or patch something.  Or big wide zig zag to just overlay, or an interesting top stitch.
Zig zag has its time and place where it's appropriate.  I often wonder if I retire and downsize, do I keep the Pfaff 1245 or the Consew 199R.  It will probably be the Pfaff.
