I just got a coupon in the mail from Harbor Freight offering the $129.95 lift that I talked about in my earlier post for just $59.95, what a deal!

A shortcut that would reduce the learning curve would be to purchase a servo motor they start and run much smoother, many people say they can sew as slow as one stitch at a time!  A good source for a new motor would be Bob Kovar at Toledo Sewing Machine Company who advertises on this board under "Suppliers". Bob Kovar will also be able to offer you additional advice, you will go away with a wealth of knowledge!

Wasn't one of the lost posts the revelation that Thomas_sew24 worked for Adler?

I'd look into a hydraulic hoist that is designed for a small engine or motorcycle shop, they go down near the floor and raise up a couple feet. A place to start looking would again be Harbor freight also referred to by my wife as "The mens mall"

Mike that is one tough boat, I would imagine it comes with an even tougher price!

Jim101:
My first machine was a 111W153 and I too found it easy to work on and parts were readily available at comparatively low cost, the things It lacked was the higher lift of the 111W155 and reverse found on most newer machines based on the old Singer.

I'm sorry sir but we had an unsatisfactory business relationship in the past and I have no reason to believe this time will be any different, that coupled with a backlog of work from preferred customers leads me to say no-thanks!

Like I've said in the past a warm clothes dryer before installing the cover works good for me!

That's the heat gun I saw in use at a small winery here in Wisconsin, as the bottles went down the line and after the cork was in a shrink wrap sleeve was slipped over the top and the heat gun shrinked it into place!

You call it glue but others might call it sizing, that's what stiffens some fabrics (not just upholstery fabric), in time the sizing wears or is laundered off and the fabric becomes softer.

General Discussion / Re: paint sprayer

Mike:
Don't confuse an airless paint sprayer that pumps paint at pressure thru a line to spray it out a nozzle without the use of air, with HVLP or high volume low pressure paint sprayer that uses a high volume of air compressed at a low pressure to atomize paint out a nozzle. The HVLP most commonly uses a turbine to provide the air for the gun.
