My New Vintage Sew-Rite Machine. Made in Japan

Hi again,

I picked this machine up at a local swap shop. It's pretty heavy and seems very well made. I'm trying  to learn more about it.

Some quick research on the web revealed that it is also marketed under a different brand, called "Modern". I'm sure there are others too.

I think I read that the "Modern" machine was a knock-off of the Singer 15. I compared the Singer 15 to this unit and they appear pretty identical.

The fact that this was made in Japan gives me greater confidence that it is made well. Though my Juki 1541 is from the modern era, it too is built like a tank.

Does anyone have an info on these machines, including the date?

I'd thought I'd revisit this thread to update it with more information.

I've toned my boat canvas shop down a bit, and I think a small machine like this will come in handy.
