What materials are better suited for bimini tops?

I see a lot in vinyl coated material, is this due to cost compared to acrylics?

Is the observation true and if so why, cost?

That is what I was seeing today Mike.  What drew the question is I was reading a "how to get into the canvas business book" and it discouraged or made the statement not to use acrylics.  In retrospect, the book had more than ten to fifteen years of age.

Therefore, at a point in the past there was some thinking that recommended not using acrylics.

In reading, I learned there are a number of terms used for the tops, navy top, sport top, as well as bimini tops.  I enjoyed reading the old book any way because it had a lot of pictures for dummies like me.   ;D

Things change,

Thanks Mike,
