One of my latest works using some A&E neon lime green thread that I picked up from a member here.  Woo Hoo!!

Nice work!
Not everyone would be brave enough to stitch that bright green thread but you are no novice.  :)

I'd still like to come over to see your Pfaff one of these days. Looks like it is serving you well.
I was on the phone again today talking to dealers about machines. We had a small commercial sewing job and had nothing but trouble the whole 6 hours I sewed.

The seats look good.  I like the green thread too.  Also noticed that the middle pic is like the intersecting French seam that was discussed in another thread last week.

When I looked at that middle picture I was also struck by not just that seam BUT the fact that the lines in the material pattern match up perfectly on both sides of the seam which I would guess is not all that easy when the material is curving and sloping in different directions all at the same time.  Great attention to detail there.  And some real motivation for those of us who are just beginning.

Saddleman

Rod the invitation is still there.  :)

Brave???  I don't know about that....I'm just not scared!  LOL

Bobby, yes that is one of those intersecting French seams.  I do a lot of those.

Cboy, the material pattern matching up that well is pure dumb luck!!!  Sure I make sure the weave running in the right direction when cutting out the pieces, but beyond that...like I said dumb luck.

Here is another one.

Loren,

Do you use any glue in the concave areas, or does it pull down because of the way it's cut?

Bobby,

It does tend to lay well because of the cut, but I still use DAP spray adhesive to help it out.  The adhesive also has the added benefit of being a third and fourth hand when it comes time to staple and getting he cover on straight and in the right place on the contours.

Did you ever decide on tags?  I'm working on getting a new tag quoted.  I am looking at another woven or embossed leather.

Sounds like DAP is the glue to use when you want something to hold!

Leather tags sound cool for the motorcycle seats.  I looked at a few links but haven't bought any yet.

Nice looking work Loren!

I've been trying my hand at some leather tooling and lacing.  Just bought a new seat pan to play with.

Did you use rebonded foam to build it up?  Any gel or memory foam?

Saddleman

Thanks Bobby!  It does have a gel insert and memory foam in the riders position.  I did build the bolsters with rebonded foam then a lot of carving and grinding.  This customer rode in from about 600 miles for a fitting.  I hope I meet his expectations.

Loren,

In this seat, what kind of material is the textured in the middle?  It looks kinda like carbon fiber.

Just curious, how are you liking your double needle machine?  I'm assuming that's what you're using on the French seams?  Which machine did you get?

Bobby,  The center material on that seat is Boltasoft Skipper.  It is a fine basket weave that does look like a very course carbon fiber material.

The lime green stitched seat was done on my single needle machine before I bought the double needle machine.  I am currently using the double needle for all my French seam work, which is nearly every seat.  The double needle machine is a Pfaff 1296.  It is a pleasure to use and makes those French seams look so good and it is a huge time saver.  The post bed is really nice too.
