He had an amazing imagination. Just so happens Americans loved his imagination and made him a gazzillionaire.

I used to be a voracious reader and gobbled up all kinds of books. There were some individuals who had awesome business brains - J Paul Getty, Richard Branson, John D Rockefeller, Dupont, Singer and the list goes on. Then there were those who had imaginations and became millionaires by accident through their inventions - Disney, Gates, Job's, etc.

I have a deep respect for all of them. It is always mind blowing to see how some of these people started so broke they couldn't pay attention, like Branson who got his start selling rabbits and ended up with a billion dollar iconic brand - Virgin. Disney did the same thing. Pretty dang awesome.

I think this may be the first religious post on this forum. At least in the last 13 or so years that I've been hanging around. I'm not formally complaining. I'm just making an observation. There's been some personal info shared but I think this is the first full out post on the topic.

Gene - I don't follow you - please elaborate on the religious context you observed ?

Prager University (Dennis Prager), Glen Beck, Glen Beck asking people to give money to Prager University. Even the Pope in not more religious than this.

And please understand I have no problem with people posting anything on this forum. I've certainly posted a lot of non upholstery stuff myself.

We get spam occasionally and some jokes, but it's very rare that someone posts something that is totally unrelated to upholstery.

I just found it interesting that this may be the first religious post I've seen.

I guess there are no topic police here and sometimes when the craft discussion is slow maybe a fill in here and there isn't bad.  I was looking for the religious angle in the Disney story -
Occasionally I hear Prager when he comes on after Piscopo and Gallager - all conservatives but you have to be open minded to both sides or this Country will not progress like it should.
When Glen Beck lived up here in CT.  I did a job for him. Didn't meet him.... he was in California but his Wife was very nice and welcoming to me when I was there.  Very simple home - no glitter - an average family - colonial furnishings.  I seem to remember something Beck said on air off color and was asked to step down.  Following that he went to a pay per listen broadcast and I never followed if he had success.  Gene you have many years here with solid contributions - thanks for that and keep it going !
Now I'll go back to my radio and listen for who is investigating who today - I'm getting ready for the blue wave

I don't know, I didn't see the theme of the video as religious. Not once was religion spoken or implied during the presentation.

The lesson I took away from the video was, In America the only limit to your ambition is your imagination.

I guess everyone sees things differently.

Hmmmm...... I failed to find any religious content in that video. Actually I appreciated Ed posting it as I love seeing, hearing and reading about people who have an entrepreneur spirit and then strike gold with ideas. Rag's to riches stories has always  been my porn.

But to make it official I will gladly post something religious:

" God, in the beginning you created man and then rested. You then created women and no ones rested since. "

Now pardon me while I run off to light some candles and say a Novena. :)

You may have heard this passage,

And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the world..then he made the Earth round.

My wife has been missing a week now.  The police said to prepare for the worst.  So, I had to go down to Goodwill to get all of her clothes back.

Speaking of success stories, I managed to pry the book, Now I Sit Me Down, out of Roses hands. This is the book 65 Buick suggested to read. I read a chapter titled The Henry Ford Of Chairs.

The author, Witold Rybczynsky, wrote about a man born in Prussia in 1796. His name was Michael Thonet.

The condensed version of his story; In 1836 he was a chair maker but just barely making it. With a large family, five sons and six daughters, he didn't have 2 nickels to rub together. That is until he created a method to make bentwood chairs. Long story short he amassed a large fortune. His first factory was built with assembly line in mind. He soon built another factory that employed 300 people. By the time he died in 1871 he had five factories running. There is much more to this story. Its worth checking out.
