Fellow furniture upholsterers (and others interested)

My friend gave me this book knowing I have a strong interest in seating furniture.

Really details the history of how this all evolved, plus many famous designs.
Being part of a western civilization, the evolution of the chair is quite interesting.

Thanks 65, I'll see if the library has it.

Here is another good read if you ever wondered what happened to the furniture industry in America.

Thanks 65, but I think I'll pass. I can't stand sitting.

(Now that's funny!)

KodyD: A few customers told me last year that there are a few furniture makers starting up again here in the USA. They said there's a growing interest in quality furniture over IKEA type furniture.

QUALITY DOES NOT COST, IT PAYS!

Industry is coming back to the USA. Lets hope furniture and Textile are some of them. I have noticed an up tic in help wanted in North Carolina. Some with sign on bonuses.

Kody it would be great to see a bunch of textile makers & furniture makers resume in the US. Far as I know, it sure is better than the recession. Our custom sofa/sofa was made in NC, 2014. And thanks I will check out what you posted there.

Sofa, I had seen a few things about houzz but wasn't entirely sure of the situation. This clears it up. Only time will tell but it appears that as frustrated as the local designers are they've taken their houzz award for the year but are letting it go now.

"Well, I guess that you're not ready to grow your business."

That's funny. I've heard this from all the biggies. Google. Yelp, Yahoo, Yext, YP.com and yes Houzz.

I even started to sign up with HomeAdvisor. Half way through the process I decided they were asking for way too much information and canceled. That didn't stop them from contacting me later and asking if I was ready to join their team. When I said, no thanks they said, Well, I guess that you're not ready to grow your business.

Its a game, just like a cell phone. If you want better service you have to pay more. How much more I do not know.

My game plan for now is to milk the system for all I can and get as much for free until I retire.

My best advertisement, like almost everybody here is still word of mouth.

Rose picked up a copy of Now I Sit Me Down at the library and has fallen in love with it. She keeps quoting from it and has proclaimed it wonderful. I guess I'll have to get my own copy if I ever want to read it. ;)

'Rose picked up a copy so she could read and keep it'
There, fixed it for ya ;)

It is a really informative and interesting book. Now you just have to sneak it away from her when she's not looking.
