sofad: Mine might go 9 feet if I turned the lights off. Going 9" is more than I need. I point it a few inches in front of the cutting wheel and I then glued it to my electric cutter. Epoxy glue.

I keep the red beam on my chalk/magic marker lines when cutting the fabric. I'm only looking a few inches in front of the cutter where the red beam is on the chalk line.

It puts a red line on the table that is 7" or 8" long, because of how it is pointing downward. All I look at is the red beam on my chalk lines a few inches in front of the cutter machine. Keeping the red beam on the chalk lines is a lot easier for me than to keep the cutting blade on the chalk line.

I believe he still marks with chalk first. Then he uses the laser to follow the chalk line.
