Outlook

I use Windows live on MS 7 - however I'm helping a friend set up a new computer with windows 8.  We opened outlook mail from the app screen but I can't seem to find/install the tool/file ribbon that goes across the top to check accounts, add e-mail addresses, etc.  Please help if you understand my issue -

I have windows 8 and somhow managed to get windows live to work with my gmail account,   windows 8 takes some getting used to for sure

Under the view menu, tool bars, choose standard toolbar

I was forced to have W8, instantly upgraded to 8.1

Hate it. Can't find anything.   Bring back 3.1 or even XP.
