Happy Birthday To Me !!!

I thought birthdays were supposed to be fun............ # 56 sucked and thank God its over with.

I am busting my butt trying to work off a backlog and went out early into the shop to get started on the day. For some reason or another I had my head buried so far up my butt I cut the first topper short. I realized what I did after I cut the second one too short as well. ( I was cutting to the finished length and not the working length - read seam allowance here ). I went on and cut the rest fine and went back and re-cut the first two and got started on sewing the order.

Then the wolf pack went nuts barking and it was the fed Ex man picking up 6 orders I had ready for shipment. After helping him load them up I got back to the table to sit down and sew and ran the first stitch line and the dogs went nuts again. This time it was the UPS man delivering my new Twin needle, table, motor, etc. I set them in the new shop and sat back down to stitch and ran a very long stitch run and two short runs. It was then I realized something went wrong on the right hook of the older twin needle and it skipped stitches to hell wont have it. I never caught it as I was in a hurry and stitching at a fast speed.

At this point I was PO'ed, had a splitting headache so I broke out the new twin needle machine and swapped it out with the old one since I didn't have time ( or the patience ) to figure out what was wrong with the hook ( timing, etc. ). During the process I decided to clean out the oil pan and add fresh oil to the reservoir before sitting the new machine in place. I proceeded to spill a 1/4 quart of oil all over the shop floor. Doesn't seem like alot till you go to clean it up. Oil is a frigging mess to get mopped up. I got that chore done, the new machine installed and finished off the order.

On top of all that I woke up with a fever and not feeling well at all ( flu bug I believe ). After the day from hell I should have just stayed in bed and watched TV and slept.

Tomorrow is going to be a better day. I sure as heck hope so anyways. Ever had one of those days ?

Take it from someone with experience at being 56 (since Jan.). It only gets worse.

I find myself forgetting a lot more stuff nowadays. But it isn't because my mind is slipping away. It's because all that crap that always seemed SO-O-O-O important in the past just doesn't anymore.

I forget things now simply because I choose not to retain them.

Anyway, Happy.......whatever it was we were talking about.

Happy birthday Chris. Did you get lots of good presents?
There cannot be a crisis next week. My schedule is already full.

Funny you mention that Ed. Every year my wife and kids ask me what I want for my birthday and every year I tell them nothing. It seems we reach a point in life where we really do not need much.
Happiness within my family is really all I need.

But then there is that awesome fabric roller truck that Bobbin posted last week that has me thinking. :)

Geesshhh, with the age of some of you guys I guess I should start calling you all Dad or Gramp's. :)

Chris

Or Grammy... lol.

Happy Birthday, Mojo.  (I'm in the same boat with respect to work).  I think you need Birthday Cake and ice cream... that makes everything better.

You need to quit taking breaks June. I am tired of getting old and Dennis is tired of getting hurt. :)

Bobbin cannot keep all us guys in line alone. :)
