If anyone knows where red seat belt material can be bought or has the belting material in red, please let me know.  I should have measured the width, and will, but it is approximately 2 inches in width and up to 10 yards is the amount needed.

Need enough to do one GTO, let me know and I will measure the requirements.

In restoration we use the original hardware and make new belts for the vehicle.

I googled and found some, but it is more than we have been paying for other colors, much more!

Steve at Silverstone Fabrics

Doyle, I went to a trade show in Charlotte, NC several years ago and I remembered that the "industry" term for webbing is narrow fabric.

I did a search for narrow nylon strapping webbing fabric and I found the following : http://www.strapworks.com/Flat_Nylon_Webbing_p/fnw2.htm

I hope this helps. Steve

Doyle,
Try John Howard Co, ask for polyester webbing (you probably already know that though). http://www.johnhowardcompany.com/index.html

Also, have you tried any of the repro houses? Here's one http://www.seatbeltsplus.com/?gclid=CO39rY-dka8CFYbe4AoddVPyoQ

Everything's getting so expensive these days, doesn't anything ever stay at the same price? Well the price for reupholstery hasn't changed much in years!

Thanks Rich, I did locate the latter reference, they have the color in wine and red red.  Either, will do the customer said (we are restoring a 67 GTO and the interior part is our job) but he said see if we can get a better price on the belt material.  I think he will eventually have to cave and go for the $10/yd materials (cost rounded).  The rolls are approximately 33 yards.

We are finishing up a 1970 Cutlass Convertible now, so will have to get a decision on this belt issue as we also want to get finished with the GTO next, belts and seats are the remaining chores on this pretty one.  Always something and one has to keep hopping to stay ahead.  The belts are done for the Cutlass as it required black belting, which we have in stock.  Don't do many red belts.

Now that was an interesting find Rich because they not only sell the new hardware they have the belt system modified to meet new car specs, a three point belt hookup instead of the original two point lap belt.

My strategy is to inform the car owner and he will drive us from here.
