General Discussion / Re: Newer furniture cording

No special equipment needed. Couple of guys I knew that bounced between shops working piece work would use this to save time when working with stripes to match welt with band. I didnt like sewing cushion up thru zipper opening or the top stitching look on my bands so I never used this method. I always take the extra time to match plate, welt, and band stripes the traditional way. Dont like that cheap looking top stitch on my cushion bands.

On second pass are you sewing with stitches showing on top so you can be sure to stay inside first pass. You can also shave foot with a dremel type tool along the side of needle hole so you can get closer on second pass and have a tighter welt. I dont use welt feet I just have my foot shaved to almost flush with needle. Sew first pass slightly loose and then tighten it up on second pass. I can sew tighter welt this way than with an unmodified welt foot. I do use a double welt foot when making that.

I don't use foam or plastic welt in fabric only in vinyl . I found it is hard to get the welt to lay straight. But the main reason is its to hard at the corners and wears through the fabric

Fibre picker one of the best time savers I found Lo. Mine was a package deal with a cushion stuffer I was told it was a foam shredder. Didn't shred foam very good I thought it was junk till I ran pig hair through it. Now I wouldn't want to do an antique without it.

Mark fabric to cut size then cut it 1 or 1-1/2" larger sew then trim excess. Or mark on back side and line seam area with masking tape before cutting.
