General Discussion / Re: Pontoon Carpet Removal?
March 03, 2011, 07:44:14 am
I wouldn't think that it would have marine glue,7 ply's, and the strength that Fir does. Also I said 3/4" because that is by far the most popular but a few have used 5/8" and it's very important to get what fits as many have edge trim 'C' channel that goes over the cross stringers and the plywood and it might not fit if you get thicker plywood or carpet.

I would replace the deck with 3/4" 7 Ply Marine Fir plywood, and you'll most like using new elevator bolts to  attach it or an option would be self drilling screws. About a 20 oz. carpet is whats most common don't go too heavy or you'll have problems getting the edge trim back on! Whatever you do don't I repeat do not use the cheap green treated plywood as it has lots of voids in it and will flex a lot and not hold up. A search of the net will locate a Pontoon Boat parts supplier near you, expect about $75.00 a sheet for the plywood and maybe $50.00 for bolts.

I had problems with my old 111W153 and I manually put the clutch back in but I found the reason it didn't work with the button was parts had been removed. I felt the cost of the clutch was prohibitive so I just used it as is.

General Discussion / Re: low cost bimini

The only thing missing on that Bimini is the Bungee straps and duct tape

Is that one position or two?

Ya Paul said what I meant, only in such a way that you could understand it

Jim:
I have to first say that I'm not a full time professional but rather a hobbyist that has taken a few side jobs. I have had the same problems and have found that using color matching thread rather than the standard white helps cover a lot of sins. I don't attempt to sew the welt real tight, but then when I assemble the seam using the same 1/4 inch welt foot and the color matched thread things tighten up and the thread isn't as visible if you happen to get a little peak of it. I have also found in some cases a little extra side pressure with my fingers helps keep things tight.

General Discussion / using ozone to kill mold
February 21, 2011, 08:52:25 pm
I suggested in a post named "Moldy Vinyl & Foam Removal -- Best Approach?" that placing foam and vinyl in a confined area with an ozone generator might kill the mold. Does anyone have any experience doing this and have you noticed any negative effects to the foam? I used an ozone generator extensively in apartments that had been smoked in and it worked wonders with the smell but you still had to clean up the stains.

Mike:
We too have a nice view out our windows, a pile of snow that the front end loader left after plowing the 13" of snow from our cul-du-sac. It's as big as a large 2 car garage and the kids are tunneling in it, Wish you could be here!

You might want to ask about that Chandler that Mojo bought he seams to very happy with it and if my recollection serves me right Gregg said he could sell that model as well. That is modeled after a Consew 206R but sells for hundreds less!

Would it work to build a chamber or closet to put the affected items in along with a Ozone Generator such as this one:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Rainbowair-5200-II-Activator-Series-Ozone-Generator-/350436996815?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5197ac36cf

and treat the items in that fashion?

I don't see in the description that this is a compound feed machine (both walking foot and needle feed) as the 111W155 and most all of the other widely used machine by members of this board are, now this might be an omission but you might be trading down by going to this machine. I'd investigate further.

I would contact one of the two well-known and reliable sewing machine dealers that advertise on this board:

Bob Kovar of Toledo Sewing Machine has helped many members offering great honest service at very competitive prices and he can be contacted at:
Bob Kovar toll free# 1-866-362-7397  or   Sewmun@aol.com

Gregg at Keystone Sewing Machine frequents this board often offering opinions and advice and he also offers knowledgeable service and very competitive prices on a wide variety of sewing machines:
