So I take it, from what I know of you boat people, you're buying a 45 footer now. Always moveing up to bigger and better boat.

I to have repo'd canvas, however I 'm intrested about what most of you do about leaving the customers boat uncovered. I also never get final payment on delivery day, usually 1 to 4 weeks till check shows up, I do get half down to start the job.

I don't adjust my pocket to move seam for flap, bow pocket and seam for flap are always in the same spot. What changes is the curve I cut my rain flap, to get it to shoot out for a camper back or lay down for aft curtain.
Rich you can do bimini and rain flap as one piece, but it looks like hell. I will take a picture of one done that way.

All I can say, is at least some of you folks get exciting jobs. Me linen tweed, linen tweed, linen tweed and black. I would like to get yellow or orange, something exciting.

Looks nice, I to am intrested if you sew the glass in, especially on the first couple pictures. Also do you have a picture of the framework for the black curved camper?

Kathy, you may be hearing the truth. I can tell you of 3 competitors, 1 between you and I, that is charging less and 2 more that may not affect you, but I bump into. Also I have found that the canvas shops doing work for dealer-storage facilities charge the dealer 1/2 what they would charge the customer on the dock. This it seems is so the dealer can mark it up and make money, sending more work to the canvas shop, and not make the canvas look to expensive.
And the people who own the big boats know all about overhead and charging, they make their money by keeping it, and work on getting you not to. Now fisherman and pontoon covers, they just want cheap.

General Discussion / Re: temperatures for Seamark

I've done @ 55F but the sun was shining and it was black seamark. Pull as tight as you can, and then move your marks in so you're making the canvas a bit small. I just looked at one I did in heated storage, now out in sun,it's not bad, but  I could have made it tighter with the sun and 70F. I pulled as tight as I could snapping to the arch when in storage, now no problem.

General Discussion / Reliable suppliers
January 28, 2009, 04:46:46 am
I'm looking for input on a supplier you use that is reliable, and has the stock when you order.
Mike has mentioned he has this problem also. I ordered grommets, punch and die's, for my press and snap, and spool of 3/4 straight cut linen tweed binding, from trivantage in Chicago. They sent the grommets, called me the next day to tell me they didn't ship binding because they where out, and didn't expect to have it for 1 and 1/2 weeks, which I needed 50 feet of to finish a job, and shipped press and snap attachments from Florida. All these shipping charges, lack of product, have sent me over the edge (along with this never ending winter, and media talk about economy). So any help.
Thanks.
Eric
