General Discussion / Dealing with customer question.
September 07, 2013, 04:46:37 am
I had a customer respond to my quote with these 3 questions.

1) what makes you the better choice over competitors?

2) Are you able to give a 10% discount for a winter project?

3) Are there other payment options from what is stated at the bottom of the contract/quote that we both can live with?
Thoughts on how some of you would respond. I do usally give discounts for winter, although lately I just price everything cheaper.
As to #3 I usually get 1/2 down up front to cover material costs.
Thanks Eric

General Discussion / Fixture for rod holder
June 03, 2013, 06:03:48 am
Boston whaler conquest. Would like to make a frame that mounts to the rod holder. Does anyone know where I might find an attachment that installes into rod holder. Then transitions the angle to be straight up and down, that I can install tubing into to make a rear bow for a simple bimini?
Thanks Eric

General Discussion / Quoting to manufacturer cost.
February 11, 2013, 05:23:47 pm
I have this cushion to quote to build. The cushion is 1/2 of sunpad, I will need to build the other 1/2. The OEM is formula boats. I have their cost, to buy this completed from them. Would you match that price? Charge more because it would be custom? Charge less? Buy from them, and not build it yourself, and add small markup for handling. Or large markup.
Thanks Eric.

General Discussion / Making a new bimini
February 06, 2012, 05:22:38 pm
I need to make a new bimini, keeping the existing windows. Has anyone done this? how has it worked? And how did you do it? Would you leave top on and use plastic over it? make marks for start and stop of existing zippers. Some other way, just take measurments, popoff old top and make a new one fitting to frame and measurments and marks.
Thanks

General Discussion / Who is responsible?
November 17, 2011, 05:15:38 am
I am building a new enclosure, the Bimini was done and installed. 60 mile an hour wind storm came through and rattled frame loose, causing wind whip on seamark top. Which made the vinyl undercoating separate in spots from the sunbrella. This same storm separate boats from their mooring and tossed them against break wall. My insurance will not pay for new top, as they say it was finished, even though enclosure wasn't. He claims his insurance is not responsible, and he doesn't want to pay deductible. Who is responsible? How would you resolve this?
Thanks.

General Discussion / Removing scratches from vinyl glass
February 09, 2011, 07:58:06 am
Any one have luck getting scratches out of glass? I know on strata they have a protective coating, so you can't really polish deep scratches out, but how about on rolled vinyl, anyone have any luck. What did you use if you did.
Thanks

General Discussion / Reliable suppliers
January 28, 2009, 04:46:46 am
I'm looking for input on a supplier you use that is reliable, and has the stock when you order.
Mike has mentioned he has this problem also. I ordered grommets, punch and die's, for my press and snap, and spool of 3/4 straight cut linen tweed binding, from trivantage in Chicago. They sent the grommets, called me the next day to tell me they didn't ship binding because they where out, and didn't expect to have it for 1 and 1/2 weeks, which I needed 50 feet of to finish a job, and shipped press and snap attachments from Florida. All these shipping charges, lack of product, have sent me over the edge (along with this never ending winter, and media talk about economy). So any help.
Thanks.
