How to Use This Forum / Too thick fabric for ties solu...
Last post by Obiechick - August 23, 2024, 04:36:30 pm
Customer brought in their own fabrics for chair cushions but the fabric they want for the welt and ties is almost ⅛" thick. I managed to make the welt work but it's probably not going to be comfortable but the ties will be like 1" rope and stick out like pippi long stocking pigtails- that is if You cannot see attachments on this board.they can be tied.
I made a mock up that might have been purposefully even worse than I could have done to show my boss the incompatibility but he said to just tri- fold it and don't worry about the raw edges along the sides and ends. This offends my sense of workmanship and style. Is there a quick work around (we have no surger) that would be functional and quick?

General Discussion / pricing for cushions
Last post by CarolAnn - July 21, 2024, 11:24:43 am
I used to do upholstery work in Kansas.  We moved out here to Eastern Oregon 7 years ago.  Of course, I brought
all my supplies and gradually word has gotten out about what I can do.  (I thought I'd retired).  I have just
completed 2 cushions for a covered porch 4' X 18" - 2 inch foam with boxing, welting and zippering.
the client furnished the fabric. I have no idea what to charge for this job now.  Any suggestions?

General Discussion / Parker Knoll Statesman reuphol...
Last post by Stealth01 - April 10, 2023, 12:34:00 am
Hi all, first post here. I've had a couple of Parker Knoll Statesman chairs in my garage for about 6 years. I bought them with the aim to get them refurbished.

Whilst passing a local upholstery shop in Southampton a few years ago, I enquired as to what the costs might be and was shocked at how expensive it would be to refurbish them. I asked for a price to finish in a high-quality vinyl and new foam. This wasn't an official price, but it was a pre-covid price and from memory, it was getting on for a £1000 a chair.

This has obviously paused my plans to do anything with them. My question is, does anyone here have any idea what an average/fair price would be for labour/materials for such a chair? I've seen Spectrum Vinyl sell their material for about £20 a metre, so it's not that expensive.

Has anyone else reupholstered a Statesman? I'm assuming they aren't easy due to the shape? I'd love to hear of anyone's experience or advice and even more so if anyone if in the local Southampton area  :)

How to Use This Forum / Re: Stapler assembly
Last post by Spoupemumpig67rg0 - November 23, 2022, 03:17:26 am
there is a metal disc-type part where the shoulder of the plunger hits, that has broken into pieces. I am looking for a parts/assembly diagram. Or, failing that, a video on how to take this gun apart. I'd like to 1 I have a Maestri 3G electric stapler and have ordered (and received) a replacement plunger. While taking the thing apart, a spring came out, as did a small silver washer or software development uae (or maybe it fell out of the work closet beside where I was working). Also. Order the part that has broken, and 2.  Put this back together so that it will function properly

Spotnails out of the UK is the only place that sells parts for the Maestri anymore, but they won't ship to the US. All the US suppliers are having a touch time getting the parts in anymore. This UK upholsterer made a video that will answer your questions and he has links to the stapler diagrams and a parts link under his youtube video. Good luck - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAvhpo3L_dY

General Discussion / Help with Maestri Staple Gun R...
Last post by GymUpholsteryGuy - August 31, 2022, 07:55:15 am
I own a mobile gym upholstery business and we use Maestri ME80 electric staple guns. I've bought a dozen over the years. They used to last 6-8 years. Now, I barely get a year out of them. I have 5 broken ones sitting in a closet. Does anyone know of a company I can send them to to be repaired? I've tried doing the repairs myself with no luck. I contacted Maestri and they weren't able to help.

General Discussion / Re: Office chair too wide for ...
Last post by simichahal - August 18, 2022, 02:29:47 am
When it comes to standard office chairs, the seat depth is usually around seventeen to eighteen inches deep. For short people, this can be too large. Seat depths that are sixteen inches or less will be ideal for short people looking to have a chair fit them ergonomically. You don't have to spend thousands of dollars on a high-end table.

Hey there! What do you mean by "up the roll"?  What dimensions would you need your fabric in?
