  I'm not clear why you want to change the design of the zipper. Maybe centering it would be nice but leaving the curve makes the shape of the. Does the back sit on top of the seat cushion? Ot behind it? I would guess on top and this will show the pleats somewhat even more so if the welt is not there. The top boxing must also be shaped correct?. What fabric is going on it now? Soft or unforgiving? Seems like this one will just be a sloppy, non reversible, back. No matter how you do it.
