Dingle balls/Ball fringe?

I'm not even kidding. I'm looking for about 4 yards of ball fringe. (I don't think I've ever said that before.) Anybody have a place to buy dingle balls? I've heard it called pompom trim too. The interwebs are chock-a-block with people selling it but I wonder if anyone can recommend someplace? Do they only make it in cotton or does somebody make poly? Marine grade exterior ball fringe?

Seriously??!!!  Marine grade exterior ball fringe?!  You must be decking out the canvas on "Oar House" or "Dirty Oar" or whatever you call that yacht of yours.  Am I correct?

Absolutely. If you look at my picture closely it's already been rendered-

It's what you could call a "virtual reality".

I just need a reputable supplier. I would make do with cotton. The teal is the important part.

Peppy, I don't know where to point you.  But I love fringes and trims of all sorts.  Fringes used to be commonplace on awnings, but not any more.  I would suggest you try working with an interior designer because they would have more access to what has likely become a higher end, "luxury" item.

I have 4" bullion fringe on the canopy that covers our deck and I've been unable to find a current source for it.  I bought the last card of it from Astrup and before that from Unitex (remember them??).  There used to be a company called Forever Bright (I think) that carried all manner of solution dyed acrylic trims, but I don't know whatever became of them.   Every salesman I've  asked about fringes/trims/tassels looks at me as though I'm nuts, so clearly either I am or their inventories are lacking something.

Jo Ann Fabrics has 1 1/2 inch plastic ball tassels. Search their web site for "tassels", not "dingle balls" or "hangie down things".

QUALITY DOES NOT COST, IT PAYS!

I can find loads of pom pom fringe suppliers, the teal appears to be the hard part.  As an alternative, I vote for teal hairy gimp!

You have to be careful about the content on many fringes designed for home dec. work.  Often they will not withstand the outside elements.  The bullion fringe and the tassels I pictured are 100% acrylic.

Peppy----Peppy----PEPPY !!!--- Put the glue gun down and go get some fresh air.  ;D

Sorry brother, but short of a support group I have no idea how to help you LOL.You've checked all the usual suspects,I'm sure. Jackson,Ace,Fabricland etc...?

WARNING: Be on the look out now for floating, water resistant fuzzy dice. They will be next on his mad agenda.

P.S, Ya know I'm just razzin' Ya. It's actually about right for look you've got goin' on for the Filthy Oar. Good luck, buddy.

I think pompoms will look so cool.  Here's a place I found with teal pompom trim (and it only costs an outrageous $0.55/yard), hope it helps.

hehe steady on , they might realize the stiff upper lip us brits are fabled to have
is a typo  ;D ;D

My Dad told me about skipping school with a bund of his "crew" to go see a stripper who could get the tassels going in opposite directions.  They made too much noise and were "discovered"... one of the guys in the group had a father who played in the orchestra and he recognized his kid's voice, lol.  I guess the Strand in or nearby Scollay Square in Boston, MA. was a pretty happenin' place in the '30s.

I'm thinkin' 4" acrylic bullion fringe and some duct tape could make for an interesting Saturday night...

(lol)

Peppy

Thanks for your help everyone! Hairy gimp is under consideration. ¢0.55/yard? Thats crazy cheap! Must be a typo maybe? Everywhere else is like $6.00.

I'll be down to the big city next week so I'll hit some fabric stores there before I order anything. If all I can find is cotton I'll use it if it's the right colour. It's going to be sew up under the bimini, out of direct rain and sun. Besides, faded ratty ball fringe might look cool too.

If the support group is anything like this http://www.knickersblog.com/how-to-wear-nipple-tassels/908 I'll be there with bells, er, tassels on!
