Started this last week - French clock from the 19th century.  Oak wood with time piece - coiled gong, and aneroid barometer.  Replaced missing curved trim on right crest - pieced in some wood to fill shrinkage on face area - and replaced one missing plinth support under the pilaster - stripping and sanding next

That is quite an old clock. My father likes old clocks too. He has a grandfather clock that he had to find someone to specially fix. And then if it is not wound, it really gets messed up. He winds it daily.

All stripped down and sanded - missing pieces replaced - ready for stain. Going to use a water based dye - golden oak strong mix -

Following the stain - one coat of shellac, followed by one mist coat of Beheln's gloss lacquer from the spray can, than 3 full coats of the same lacquer.  Clean the dials + glass, remount the time piece and barometer.  I think it's been returned to its original color.  The photos don't show the size of this clock well - it's over 24 inches tall.  I liked the castle architecture along the top -
