Attaching springs to burlap

I see on my loveseat the coil springs are attached the bottom burlap using something called a clincher tool. Keeping in mind that this tool is rather expensive, is there another way reupholsterers attach the springs on the bottom? The tops were tied in regular fashion.

You can tie the bottom of the springs to the webbing using button twine and a needle - go around the base of each spring - make loops and knots.  Tie each spring in three places.

One thing to consider, If the old webbing is not rotten just leave it in place and add new webbing over the top. Pull it tight using a webbing stretcher. Keep in mind the thickness if you are not adding a skirt, if the new webbing is too close to the edge you will have a lumpy mess on the bottom edge of your love seat. This method will save you about 1-1/2 hours.

I had gloves and everything on and still I got cut in 3 places ripping that smelly old burlap off. (From the klinch fasteners)
So basically replicate where they were but with a single hand tied square knot? Nothing further?
