How the hell did they do this!

Reupholstering a marine cushion. I'll attach link to view pictures. I am basically working on top upside down "U" shaped back rest. I'm confused about how in the hell did the manufacturer get this form into the vinyl after it was sewn. As you can see in the pictures there is very little room to squeeze the wood backed foam into this vinyl. So how did they do it?!?  I am at the last step where I have to sew the final panel to the back side of the cushion but I'm hesitant beach once all three sides are sewn on I have no clue how I'm going to get it on. Advice please! 😬

Have you purchased a heat gun yet?  You need to be careful to not touch the element to your vinyl but you can stretch it out something crazy with the heat gun.  You still have to get "down and dirty" as far as getting in there and pushing, stretching, pulling, cursing, etc.

Don't know if the heat gun will answer your question but it does a lot of stuff, in addition to pulling out wrinkles.

I did a few of these cushions and the two things that helped me were wrapping the foam in plastic and using a heat gun.  Lots of pushing and pulling (and swearing) kind of like stuffing a sausage!  Once the foam was in, I took my heat gun and worked the center to one side then to the other - they turned out well - customer was very happy.  If  I did it again, I would double my charge!

Glad I was able to help.  I apologize for forgetting about wrapping in plastic.  That definitely helps slide foam in tight spaces as well.

At any rate, I am glad to hear that your customer is happy with your work.  It is hard to know how much to charge.  A few people on the board have told me that I don't charge enough.  I do keep upping my charges though.
