Hi from Australia

been a long while since I posted here

I recently picked up a free Singer 111G155 . A friend of mine , his dad ran a upholstery business for years but he retired 25 years ago , the machine has been sitting in the garage for 25 years covered in cobwebs and dust .

will try to attach pic  Mike

Hey stranger. Good to hear from you again. You must have been extra special good for the fat guy to drop that in your Christmas stocking. I don't know the difference between the "G" and the "W"'s that I've been using for 20+years but I'm sure Bob T will jump in. I assume it has to do with the feed mechanism as your needle bar?feet? something looks different than my 111W155. Either way congrats on a super score. I though I had won the lottery when I got mine for only $575 CDN after taxes. That was just over a weeks wages back then , here in Canada.
Life is a short one way trip, don't blow it!Live hard, die young and leave no ill regrets!

Well you got a good deal yourself with your 111W155 .  I think the "G" means the machine I scored was made in Germany , it's the same as a W but made at a different factory. I also scored a lot of upholstery tacks and pins and a grommet press . Some of the stuff , I don't know what it is to be honest .

You must be well and truly aquainted with the 155 after 20 + years of using it !  It must be a great machine for you to keep it for so long . You can give me some help no doubt ..I am still a novice Mike

We bought our 111w154 over 30 years ago. Love that machine. We paid right around $500. A true work horse. Only regret is, like yours, it has no reverse. But we cope. Is the G a double walking foot?
There cannot be a crisis next week. My schedule is already full.

Yes the G155 has the two pressers and a 1/2" lift , the earlier models like the 152  had a 3/8" lift I think .
