repair parts for ratan sofa

Hi all. I have a large re upholstery job coming up. one of the rubber straps that holds the bottom tight is stretched out pretty good. Any idea where I can get a few of these.

Don't know if one of the other peeps on the forum can help. Someone may even have a couple in their junk box they will send you.

Generally when I come across odd pieces like this I'll do one of three things.
1. Try to fabricate a rubber strap out of raw material.
2. Rip the whole thing out and replace with rubber webbing. (If the frame can support the load) Rubber webbing is expensive.
3. Replace with jute webbing. Jute webbing will put an even greater load on the frame but is cheaper then rubber webbing.

Whatever you decide you should run it by the customer first. Jute webbing will be much firmer than the system now in place and you may need to add extra support to keep the frame from warping.

Just thought of a third option, Web the frame from the bottom and fill the void with foam. then cover the whole thing with decking fabric.

In a movers supply store they have heavy rubber straps with hooks on the end.  As long as you have the clips you can retro fit like Kody suggests -

Steve's reply made me wonder if you could somehow fabricate a strap using a rubber bungee? Upholsterers do get creative. MacGyver style.

---- or maybe helical springs like a hide a bed ?? They are available in various lengths at some hardware stores.
