I would appreciate information from someone who has dyed automobile carpet.  This question is centered on color enhancement not performing a color change, as the carpet is faded.

My specific questions:

Will dying carpet significantly alter the feel of the carpet nap?  If it should
make the nap stiff, that is important to know.

Will the color be fairly durable, last a year, perhaps, without fading or rubbing off?

With respect to the application process, is spraying recommended, if so
what technique should be used?  Aerosol or spraying a liquid?

Any brand of dye favored, SEM comes to mind.

Everything's getting so expensive these days, doesn't anything ever stay at the same price? Well the price for reupholstery hasn't changed much in years!

if you are using an actual dye you should be OK it has the consistency of water however if you are using sem coat or the sems aerosol the carpet will probably make the nap stiff.  and if there are any stains you will only dye the stains a darker color as well as the rest of the carpet which will still leave the stains.

Hope this helps

sem sure coat should be ok.
it's waterbased. I use it for vinyl and leather and auto carpet. and it don't make it stiff, it looks and feels natural. but always try a little first on a sample piece.

people are dyeing to get into our business.
