Sailboat season continues... Beautiful and calm all day. Made a full enclosure pattern and then this-

T'eed up the frame yesterday at the end of the day and patterned, sewed and installed today. A new record for the shop- 8hrs labour.

Here's the pattern for the rest of the captain purple one-

It's done but I don't have a picture. Installing a dodger tomorrow and 2 more next week. Send nice weather my way please, I have 2 weeks to finish them before my vacation. No pressure.

I think out record was like 8 cockpit and bow covers on 8 boats one day two in the water at the dock and 6 on trailers out front some were over the wisdow and some were not flat covers this was two guys working
today fitted a 20 foot  deck boat Cover with canvas then sewed and installed on a trailer tomoror ice got to make a 30' formula cockpit cover from apattern   Then have to go put it on  probly friday and pattern a bimini to fit the existing windows

Can-Vas

Finished one enclosure  on a CC yesterday, started another one (sailboat) today (dodger & bimini I made in the spring).
I'd rather be sailing..  - but if ya gotta work it's nice to be around boats!

Peppy

Real good week. Wrapped this one up today

Old frame with new grab rails and tension bars.

Along with boom tent, sail cover and various winch covers.

This guy sailed to us. It's good we got him done cause a guy's coming tomorrow to fill his slip. New dodger and enclosure for him.

Howard- maybe sailboat canvas is a Canadian thing?

Sailboat canvas is a cold water thing.  Most of the really hard-core sailors here have nice canvas on their boats, too.  Sailing is a blast, but nothing takes the gloss off the adventure faster than a raw wind and too much spray!

I got a 18 daysaler ln e for my kid free he didn't like it so after work I'd take off on it from the house seemed no sooner did I leave and get halfway out thebbay the wind would quit I'd be sitting there while my bro sprayed me with his jetski.

Nice!  Love the red dodger.  Very neat work, Peppy.  The fit is top-notch.

*phew* Crazy busy couple of weeks. The shop shuts down for two weeks so the push is on to do a months work in two weeks. I got pictures of some of it.

here's this one done.

This guy is his neighbour,

A 'particular' chap. Want's what he wants regardless of common sense. Actually now he's full of 'common sense' 85ish turnbuckles in this enclosure. Through-bolts into steel.

this thing.

This guy sailed to us. Thats 'my' sewer.

I meant to get an inside picture but you make a little bag that goes inside to cover the cleat.

Thats the thing with sail boats they'd be easy if you could just cut the strings!

first class
pep               Definatlt a cd weather thing I don't do half thebenclosures I used to do up
north. I orders zippers direct from the make and k used allot
not it's all Bout shade a keeping thebboat dry.  Like a couple weeks ago a guy was going to sell his ( sign of the times) 30 footish formula he brought down south  the bimini was shot. So had me make a new o e and had to fit his old crappy looming window he only used if. Aight in thebfain and them a cockpit cover to keep it alllowance dry
I really surprised a shop up north would shut down for 2 weeks durri f this rime of year.  What have you got a out 8 weeks before the boats are all tucked away for the winter
Bt you dostore and work on boat in the winter right ?  But do you get paid from them when there done or when removed in the spring ?  I had a friend who owned a marina a Ross from my old shop. He never got pain in full for his winter storage till they wanted to go on the water

Peppy

Thanks Mike. We used to shut down for one week, there's a fishing derby on then and everybody is using their boats so they won't book work so why not shut down? Now we close for two weeks cause life's short. We work like hell all year so it's nice to have a bit of summer to enjoy. Ya when we get back people will be thinking of pulling their boats out. We've got a lot of winter work booked so far. Should be good!

On winter jobs we get 1/2 down and storage. The remainder in the spring. It's a huge part of why I don't work for myself, the buildings and the recievables you've gotta sit on all winter. I get paid at least!

UseTo have a small baitshop in NH along with the canvas acutaly poleople would come in glfor bait and sees they could get canvas so so it complemented it.  Anyway for years there was a bug salmon derby in may.
And April first opening day our dock out back would be elbo to no with people fishing.   Dads and kids old guys. Younname it. A d the der y was a huge booste to start th e summer   Id be stuck  at the shop till midnight  with latecommers and open at 4 am again.
Then theast few years it got slower and slower  and April first rhebsame thing only a few fishermen out back.   There was a ice fishing derby that was about 1/2 the buisness thst ended up surpassing it money wise finaly thebsLmon serby was csncled after I moved
my dealor across from my old shop desent have a line aniymore  I hear

Nice one Howard! That strataglass? And boy! Snaps? Lucky! Sailors never let me use snaps. Turnbuckles always. But what's with the BBQ? To cheap to get a matching cover? I guess that gym bag does have a couple years left in it.

Are those 'gemini' handrail fittings? How do you cut the canvas for those? We sew a little circle of vinyl on the tarp then punch a hole in the center with the grommeter, so it's just a hole no grommet. It kinda looks crappy but we don't have a better idea yet....what do you do?
