I had a vision last week and couldn't get it out of my head till I built it. So I built it.

A 'y' type frame upside down and kind of inside out.

This is almost what it'll be like- with window material above.

finished pattern

inside view. The travel cover posts will support the dodger. I didn't have enough slide track today, but thats what it'll mount to, to let it slide forward to rest on the nose.

Hot damn! I'll show the finished product as soon as it's made. Giggedy! Nice when things work like you hope!

This is a cross post from the green room- but it seems real empty in there, and I wanna see what you guys think!

i can see the artist in you is screaming to get out Peppy  :o

Nice looking frame, i can't wait to see the finished thing.
i take it the cover is passing under the center bow to hold
the shape of the cover ?
but how will it stop from drooping ? pocket on the outside ?
or will the tension pulling on the top bow hold it ?

Thanks Rich! It must be the brain washing I got in art school coming out or something.

The lower bar is on top of the canvas. The top bar is pushing up, and the lower bar will be pulled down with either straps or snaps in the canvas into the bar. Then the whole side will be pulling the bar down. I'd like the lower bar exposed as much as possible, and I think it should work. It's kind of a 'sky hook'. The front canvas (the deck?) is supported from above by tension and shape.

It'll either work or it won't! It'll be one or the other anyway.

I like  it looks like a neet  boat.    Have you  thought of making s sport top come off tour new windshield to keep you
nice and dry ?

Peppy

Well.

My sewer loves me. Also evidenced by the quick turnover on the pattern. <3

Incase you didn't see it from enough angles

The main surprise of the evening was that the front/lower bar doesn't really do anything. When it's pulled down it does make tension but it looks real good without it too. Always learning never stopping. This is really the sweet spot of the enterprise. The lever the tension's made from.

lookin good Dr Peppy.

I'm not sure about those 2 support poles though, if you put one single right in the center
of the window and then one either side  of the mid bow fixed to the hull
would that work ?

Peppy

Rich, you could do anything you like. I think the most versitile support method is to hire a short guy to stand under it and push. Or pull as the case may be. And in a pinch this support method can run down to the beer store for you.

I was going with the 2 poles because I already use them for the travel cover. Today I was thinking that you could support it from above with the bimini, but that takes away from the quick fold feature.

I think you could make one without the lower bar. If you put a rope at the 'lever point' you'd get the same effect if you built right I think.

Here's the strap to pull down the forward lower bar

There's a thousand ways it could have been done...

...no regrets.

Here you go Rich, how's this for support?

Wives buy boats too, I'm sure this'd be good for resale.
