I have found water based foam cement. In a group I belong to on Facebook it was discussed and a name dropped. I called the company and ordered a 5 gal tub. It should be in on Monday and I will review my findings. Watching the videos was amazing. More to come.

What is the attraction to this new glue - no smell - better grab - stronger union - is it time tested ?  Can you post a link to the videos ?
Thanks,

I don't personally care about smell, I never smell the foam cement. I really have no issues with the Camie product except for others. Right now I have a young man spraying in a room and had to buy a full face respirator because of the carcinogens in Camie.
I would like having a water cleanup. No thinners needed. When I spray and get it on my hands I can go wash up in the sink. Not a biggie but again no thinner.
I am too old to really care about all this environmental stuff even though I should. I do care about putting a young man in harms way.
The videos below show how this works. Pretty impressive as you will see if you watch them. It is ready to use as soon as it is sprayed just like the Solvent type. I will tell how true this is soon.
From talking to the company spokesman there should be less used as the solids are like 50+% as apposed to maybe 12% in solvent based products. So less should be more.
Watching them attach foam to a sub straight was also impressing there is a standard curved back chair they foamed as that show well.

You had me at water clean up. Walking around for several days with dacron stuck to my finger tips is embarrassing. What is the cost difference.

It isn't cheap but it should go further due to the amount needed to spray. I will get the costs together tomorrow for you. The smallest they sell is a 5 gallon bag in a box and that I think was 190.00 plus shipping. I dont remember the cost of Camie per gallon.

Paul - I don't believe this is the best thing for our purposes.  To start - all chemicals and glues - water based or not are harmful.  Green or not - who the heck really knows what's going to save the planet that has been around for 300 billion years.
I have a feeling this glue will let you down - whether it's the application, handling method, storage, pot life, effectiveness, ease of use around humidity, heat, cold.  I'll take to old camie glue over this any day of the week.  I wish you luck but the old ways will never fail you.  It will be your guys who will tell you to go back to the solvent glue.

I find it amazing that the lady in the video has no breathing protection. I honestly don't think I have ever seen a business produced video where a spray devise is being used that did not have the people wearing some type of breathing protection.

This type of wood repair glue is new to me.  When using - what is the reason?

Just curious,

Doyle

Doyle, this is for gluing foam not wood.

So we tried this glue with a HVLP gun and while the glue itself is everything it is sold by works great. Very quick attachment, Spray and put together. The bond is as strong as Camie and even stronger after a while.
Downside ad this was a big drawback was not only the room where the spraying was going on by the whole shop had a cloud. I had read on this possibility and how to overcome it and tried all of the recommendation. I could only get the glue to spray well at a certain setting and that created the cloud. We went back to Camie.
So I am not sure if a different gun would help or maybe something else but for now it a fail. If the company ever stops in the shop to help I will update this thread.
I must say the company does sell guns and other techniques to spray the product and that might just be the ticket but I had no luck with air and a HVLP gun.

When Rose and I worked in the same room I had to do all my spraying outside. The smell bothered her. The folks I worked for in town had us do all our spray laq spraying out side. If we didn't the seamstress would raise hell. Its a pain but just wondering if that would be a possibility with your new glue.

Paul. What are the negatives of this "cloud"?

Is it just a visual thing that hampers work? Or are there fumes associated with it? Does the cloud mist settle on everything?

Do you have to continue wearing a respirator until the cloud dissipates?

Does the cloud form after only a little spraying (such as 1 cushion)? Or does it take a lot of gluing to produce the cloud?

Just trying to decide if something like this would work for someone like me who would be doing a lower volume of gluing.

Spraying outside is not an option for me with this project. I have 4 jigs setup for this large project at they take up a room 10 x 12 room.
There is no reason you couldn't spray outside for intermittent use like gluing up cushions or something like that. As long as you have air and the gun your good.

The cloud itself. It is seems to be just a visual thing more that anything but I was concerned. No one had to stop working.
The kid was spraying for about an hour or more before I came out of the sewing room and noticed it. He is in a room off the main workroom with no door on the room.
He was not wearing the respirator and said he felt the glue in his nose. Why he didn't put the mask on IDK. But he doesn't feel anything with Camie and no cloud with Camie.
I did not feel any residue on things in the main room or even the smaller room he is doing the spraying in but I was concerned it would build up in time and there is finished product all over the shop.
I wouldn't think the cloud would form quickly although I cant say for sure. If and when I have a job to glue up foam for I can try this product again but I bought colored glue this time so he could see it. I never liked using colors on normal jobs. I did ask the tech about bleeding and he said is wont unless too much is applied then it might.

It sounds like you need a high end set up - gun - pump etc - and I'm sure expensive.  A cloud is bounce back - air pressure too high - fluid nozzle open too wide ?  Spray pattern too narrow ?
I like some water based products but no matter how much they improve them there are usually more down sides than up sides.
Your guy who didn't notice the cloud made me laugh.  He's definitely a foot soldier -
