I attribute at least some of my hearing loss and tinnitus to having worked with a pile driver for a week or so in my teens.  Rock and roll and tractor exhausts didn't help any, too.  Before the days when hearing protection was used.   For father's day or birthday, I've requested a NRR 30 hearing protection to replace what I currently use and help save what I have left.
