I built mine too wide, 8' by 16' - it's a pain in the butt to walk around and I can't reach accross it either. Bigger is NOT always better!

I like to cut out my patterns so reaching across is good but wider help falling off the side too.  here a pic I saw of one shop solution ive been thinking of doing this for sometime a flip up barrier

That's a good idea. Nothing like having 30x12 foot blank sliding off on the floor while your sitting down across the table trying to hold it with two fingers!

the last guy in my space built aluminum pool cages and  when he left left the long bench on the wall where he gut aluminum channel will be great for cutting top frames  I never had a dedicated bench for my chop saw .
he also left 2 4x8' standing hight well built work tables on wheels with lower storage. also had storage rack were I will store my canvas rolls and extra vinyl and tubes I store my patterns rolled on

also in the past ive always had a tube overhead that I put my binding on when sewing the ceiling here is too tall so I came up with a easy solution with a cut piece of rebar left also I cut a short piece drilled a hole non the table to the right of the machine works great

For binding or t-braid etc...I put my roll on it's side in a milk crate and run apiece of boat tubing through the handles and the roll.It spools off nicely and then goes sits in the corner when not needed.

I always used a piece of 7/8" tube but for theese newer small hole binding fubes i was having difi ulty finding what eould fit the small hole. The this rebar is perfect and strong.
One note i the tube cabric roll storage i always had them stored horizontaly on racke under the table or roof took alot of space. Ut verticacal dosent a d laying down i ised to find mouse jimmys somtime in the tubes this way i hope not to.

Some great ideas Mike, I am saving all these for the next move  :P

;) Not sure what milk crates look like abroad so figured a snap a pic for those outside of North America. Our's are roughly a cubit by a cubit by the length of your forearm high.  ;)
