Furniture Padding ?

This is merely a question, opinions might be qualified answers.

When I order cotton, I get cotton in perhaps two grades, one finer and cleaner than the other.

But, my question is, on occasion I get what looks a lot like clean cotton but there is some type of synthetic mixed in or it could be totally a synthetic, but resembles cotton.  I would like to know what this is, it is stronger than pure cotton and adds more bulk to the padding.

Another point, some manufacturers use this to pad out about everything, arms and decks.  If I had the records, I could go back and see where I got what, you know, that would be one way of back tracking to find out what it is.

This white stuff I am referencing doesn't even smell like cotton.

Maybe someone, one of the suppliers on this board, will know the technical answer to my question.

The cotton with the synthetic blend is cheaper.  If you want only pure cotton order the AAA rated stuff.

I know the stuff that you're talking about. It is to cotton what waferboard is to wood (blended scraps). I think that stuff is sold exclusively to factories. There seem to be a lot of similar items that after-market suppliers just don't carry.

I guess your right Dennis, it is probably pretty expensive, but what isn't?

I see virtues in this material, like I said above, it actually offers more padding support than cotton does.  That virtue is a plus when building some of the vintage car seats, and in the decking of furniture.

well, just keep looking,
