Subject:  The light turned yellow

The light turned yellow, just in front of him. He did the right thing, stopping at the crosswalk, even though he could have beaten the red light by accelerating through the intersection.

The tailgating woman was furious and honked her horn, screaming in frustration, as she missed her chance to get through the intersection, dropping her cell phone and makeup.

As she was still in mid-rant, she heard a tap on her window and looked up into the face of a very serious police officer. The officer ordered her to exit her car with her hands up..

He took her to the police station where she was searched, fingerprinted, photographed, and placed in a holding cell.

After a couple of hours, a policeman approached the cell and opened the door. She was escorted back to the booking desk where the arresting officer was waiting with her personal effects.

He said, "I'm very sorry for this mistake. You see, I pulled up behind your car while you were blowing your horn, flipping off the guy in front of you and cussing a blue streak at him. I noticed the 'What Would Jesus Do' bumper sticker, the 'Choose Life' license plate holder, the 'Follow Me to Sunday-School' bumper sticker, and the chrome-plated Christian fish emblem on the trunk, so naturally....I assumed you had stolen the car."

Christians do sometimes give Christians a bad name.

I have a customer, she's an interior designer, and she used to have a magnetic sign on her SUV with her business name and phone number on it. She told me she had to take the sign off her SUV because she kept getting phone calls from people who were angry with her because she was driving like a crazy person and they got her phone number off the sign on her SUV.

I would think that driving with a little bit more respect and concern for the safety of others would be a better solution. But not for her. And yes, she's a very outspoken Christian.

Funny anecdote, BigJohn.

Funny you say that Gene. My Ford van has some bad blind spots. This makes me very cautious about whats going on around me but I still manage to cut people off once in a while. When I put my business name and number on the back of my van I was sure I'd get an angry call telling me I can't drive worth a poop. Two years and no calls. Yet.

When the subject of crazy drivers comes up, everybody has a story about the "nut" they encountered on the road.
I promise all of you that somewhere, right now, someone is telling their story about the crazy nut that almost got them killed. And the nut they're talking about...is YOU.
The roads are just too crowded now. We all do something to piss someone else off. I'm sure not putting my number on my truck.

re Religion. Granpappy Jack liked to put it this way: "Jews don't recognize Jesus as the savior. Catholics don't recognize Jews. Baptists don't recognize each other at Hooters ..."

Merry Kwanza ...

edit. Crazy drivers: Believe it was the late great George Carlin who said anybody driving slower than you is a moron, anyone driving faster is a maniac ...?

You started it BigJohn.

I'm driving to work this morning and as I approach a church on my right side I see a car coming down the church driveway. The car noticeably accelerates to make it to the street so they can cut in front of me. I have to hit my brakes!!!

They then procede to drive 5 miles an hour under the speed limit all the way down the street. God bless George Carlin.

And yes, they had a fish on the back of their car.

Driving down my dirt road early one day. I noticed a neighbor racing down their driveway trying to beat me. I didn't speed up but I didn't slow down. She stopped right before I got there. I waved as I went by. Her daughter was with her, obviously late for school. Tailgated me all the way to the end of the road. Great lesson for the young one.
