Need General guidance on selecting small boat cover material

Having done a couple boat covers in last few days and reading the ratings in various categories got me to wondering what is the most important selection parameter.

There was categories such as warranty, weight, and several others.

Most I was looking at the weight parameter seemed very low to the point I wondered why anyone would select this fabric and others with a weight parameter value of 5.5 oz or 6.0 oz.

Then, a fabric with a weight parameter of 11 was seen which just looked stronger and a selection of less risk.

What is a smart way to evaluate marine boat cover material?  More importantly when would it be smart to use one of the light weight fabrics (5.5 or 6.0 oz.)?

The fabrics were mainly polyester coated fabrics.

Is there a simple way to select the fabric or is it all about money?

I only use snbrella as most all ask for it or recacril for coversive tried weathermax a coated acrylic but it dosnt breath as well as the other 2  breathability is best in florida or mold will be a big problem

Thank you very much Mike.  I will take this advice when dealing with Tri-Vantage.

This year the marine work has shown an increase, I haven't done as much the last 4 or 5 years, since recession hit.  During this period, most of my marine work has been cover repairs and interior work (mostly recovering some or most of the interior).  Believe me being away from doing a sizeable amount of anything, one gets rusty.

Hope it holds up because auto has pulled back a little.  Furniture still holding on, repairs up and some recovery work.  Putting it all together, been very busy.  Everything subject to change.

I know the dealer i work with has said sales have been way up theost in years.
