monel staples

whats the deal with these ?
I hear in some of the boating forums these are all the rage, ive never seen or used these I don't even know any suppliers who may have them,.  I always use SS

Monel is not steel at all.  It's a nickel and copper blend (no iron).  Very corrosion resistant.  I'm not aware of any manufacturer of 22 ga. 3/8 crown monel staples.  Only ones I've ever seen are series 50? I think.  Not series 71 like most of us use.  They're more expensive than stainless.  Maybe Keith or one of the other guys can add something to this.  I'm no chemist.
