My couplings all hiss as well whenever you move the hose. I just bought a 3 way coupling so I can connect 3 different hoses to it and run 3 different pressures through small regulators. My coach tires require 120 PSI. Some of my big nail guns require 100. My staplers and brad nailers I run at 60 - 70 psi. I do believe June is correct and I will look into replacing the O rings. This sounds like the right way to go.

I nominate June as the Queen of knowledge.  8) 8)

This is the set that I'm talking about:

What O-rings?

I can completely eliminate the hissing by replacing these 2 parts. Trouble is, I have to replace them monthly. I realize that it's only 6 bucks. But I used to go years without needing to replace them.
If there is a more expensive set that you guys recommend, lay it on me.

Just as well. I wear a 10mm wet suit and only 16lbs of weight. If I've got my hood and gloves on I'd be headin' for the boat like a little cork.LOL.

Sofa D: I found that the zinc plated silver coupler lasts a lot longer than the brass colored one.

The female fitting has an o-ring in the bottom of it.  You can kinda see one in this pic, though this isn't the exact one I have.

I've never changed mine, but there is a tool that makes it easier.  See the very bottom of this page where they show o-rings.  You can use a dentist's pick to pull out the old one, but that would probably be more expensive than this tool.

Hansen is supposed to be a good brand of high pressure fittings.  Maybe these guys could help.

Actually, this company appears to carry a broader range of products.

I just bought twp sets of dental picks ( 5 per set - different angled tips ) for $ 1.98 at harbor freight.

If you hold the female coupling and look into it you will see the black rubber O-Ring.

BTW, harbor freight sells O-Ring kits for $ 5.00. It is a plastic storage container that is filled with different sized o-rings. I believe they also have nitrile o-rings.

June:
The Farmerboy link reminded me that I haven't tried my local farm supply store. If I don't see anything there, then I'll order from one of those websites. Thanks.

Once I get some quality couplers and plugs, then I'll look into O-rings if it should become necessary.

Some people are seemingly unperturbed by a hissing air connection. Yet if they had a leaky water fawcett, or a toilet that won't stop running, they would fix it.
