here's one for you upholstery guys,

I want to sew a union Jack into a barrel chair cover using vinyl.
like those fancy go fast boat sun deck covers some people sew
up to look like a stars and stripes etc.

How on earth would i go about doing it, is there a way to plan the sewing order ?

id cut strips for each stripe size . id glue to some 1/4" sewfoam and sew  like a puzzle

y i sort of figured i'd have to do that but i was wondering if someone
had a better way as its going to get fiddly on a union jack.

Would it look ok do you think if I did the blue and white seamed
and then sew the red on top with a nice thick thread ?

why would you put  a chair on your flag pole? I know you have enough respect for Queen and country to not deface her flag by letting people sit on them.

If someone asked to to put a Pearson pennant ( Canadian flag/replaces her Majesty's U.J )under there arse,  I'd get all Sgt.Maj. up side their head even this many years after my release.

Yes; I've seen it done in several places;including here in Canada. Can't change that/don't like it. You're call Rich.

hehe see your point Darren but i'm not so precious about someone sitting
on our flag, as far as i'm concerned it has become a brand logo anyway
( don't get me started on that ) hehe

Just thinking out loud here Rich----Is it possible to get it silk screened onto a workable medium with a protective coating on top to keep it from rubbing off?

It's ok Darren I understand OCD :-)

I really want to sew this one as I rarely get to do that kind of upholstery,
people here just won't pay for it .
