Debra:

Last fall things started getting busy for me. By January I was buried and was so far booked out that I thought I would never see the end of day. I was sewing 6 and 7 days a week and many times late at night to keep up with orders.

If a potential customer called and wanted a timeline I couldn't give an accurate one. I finally gave in and went to my wife and asked for help. She came up with a calendar board. You can buy them at Walmart for $ 10. They are a white board and you can write the dates down or whatever on each day. This is what worked for me. She also made me buy a Samsung galaxy Tab and I started using the calendar app on that not mention an invoice program/app.

Debra said that she missed the deadline by 4 weeks. I've been there.....done that. IMO, once you are 4 weeks behind, no calander board will help.
My policy toward deadline promises is: You can't break 'em if you don't make 'em.
Like Debra said, most customers are very understanding anyway.  It's just the occasional customer that gets their panties in a wad. Those customers are welcomed to back up to my work bench, and I'll get out my wad pullers. :D

When inwas in school nobody talked or cared whT i did after graduation the counciler just wasnted a job. Sos indid a nuber if jobs till instarted sewing in 92 20 years ago. So am i a lifer. ?
9 years ago insold mu place packed up and headed to florida were i didnt know what was to be but was verry excited of the. Hange and freedom i had not having any responsibilty for awhile till i got settled in and had to start working again. But latly ive been feeling burnt out. I cont know if it has anything to do phosicly with the stroke i had 2 years ago but injust dont have the drive i find it harder to get off my patio in the morning having coffee and start working.  When i do i dont mind working in the shop it really when half the work i havd to go onsite and deal with things.  A.month Go i sas out of work and felt prety good now i hVe 2 lTge jobs hanging over my head and im not looing forward to it except for my shop sewing time. Its not so mi h the sewing burnout as it is the repsonsibilty burnout.

It very well could be the stroke Mike.

I just had another mini-stroke two weeks ago and have been struggling since. This probably is the reason why my grammar has been so bad lately on here. I have been having a hard time fidning the rioght words so I have not been on here much. :)

I was extremely lucky as I had clot busting drugs at the house and was able to get an injection into me right away. But I was fighting the clot for two days and it took two injections to clear it. ( they are taken in the stomach and hurt like hell BTW ).

Of course all hell breaks loose at the same time and the orders are starting to come in heavy. My problem is getting the energy and drive to get into the shop and knock these out. A year ago I would have been out there knocking down two full orders a day. Now it is taking me several days to do two.

I am getting burnt out from the medical issues and doing chemo and these damn mini strokes that keep popping up. Sewing used to be a great escape for me from the daily medical problems and battles. Now I have to really get my mind in gear to head to the shop to sew.

So maybe it was your stroke Mike. When you get hit with something like that you suddenly realize how precious life is and how it is not guranteed. You start thinking more about enjoying your days and less about makming money. :)
