Our supplier is flogging this stuff, so we got a roll to try. Anyone know about it? Is it just the Italian rip off of recacril? The boss says he tried it years ago and it faded....

(I hope the fabric is better than the website)

I hope it's not terrible. I just used it for my own stuff.
*glup*?

For what it's worth I use a lot of tempotest and only tend to order sunbrella when a color match is ness., the client really wants the brand name, or a color isn't avail. in tempotest.

I haven't noticed issues with fading, it does show some "spider webbing" ... ie you can see small crease line shadows once the fabric is worked a bit.

Neither of the shops I've worked for used it much, but that's probably more a function of the ability of our local reps than the overall quality of the goods, Peppy.  I saw "Tempotest" and thought, "yeah, I remember seeing one of their books" but then couldn't remember where or how long ago!  (I've been at this for 20 yrs. now).

If the stuff is 100% solution dyed acrylic and the weight/oz. is the same as Sunbrella, Recacril, Sattler, Dickson, then I can't really imagine the overall wearability would be that different.  But if you have a lot of money/prestige riding on the job, check the warranty.  Again, I think Glen Raven has done a better job of marketing than many other worthy competitors.  (I think several of them have superior color/pattern lines, frankly!)

Peppy

Thanks guys! Stitchm- sunbrella does that to with the crease lines but the goes away after a while.

Bobbin, yes it's solution dyed acrylic and I think the weight is a bit heavier than sunbrella. The say it's waterproof due to structure of the weave as opposed to fluorocarbons. Sunbrella seems like it's getting cheezier/leakier, could be all in our head but we're giving the competition a shot. One roll of black on staff projects.

I, for one, am less than thrilled with the "consolidation" with respect to wholesaling/distribution in the NE corner of the USA and the almighty Trivantage needs a shot across the bow with respect to fabric sales.

I'm all for competition in our "free market" (which isn't!).  I'll be interested in your observations on the overall quality and serviceablility of Tempotest.  Who's your supplier, if I may be so bold?  If not, then you could always PM me.  I'm always looking for alternatives.  ;)

i used to get that mostly with cadet grey and aquamarine lighter line at the creases.

I have just done three boats with Tempostest - the rep gave me a deal to try it out. I like that its a softer hand than Sunbrella. I'd like to see the boats after a season to see if there is any marked diffeence.

Ps I got it from J Ennis fabrics

I like the feel of it too, like year old sunbrella. I watched the rain bead off my dodger last night and it looked the same as 'normal'. But ya, we'll see next year.

Ours came from Ennis too. Wonder why they're marketing sunbrella's competion?
