It isn't cheap, but Ultrafabrics makes one.

Not bad specs for outdoor use.  Pretty sure Miami Corp. sells it.

June

Thanks June.  That may be where I saw it But I don't remember it being that expensive.  For what I'm making, I can't get enough mark up to be able to use it.

You don't by chance have a source for SS hog rings do you?

I am looking for a supplier of a marine vinyl that has a disstressed leather look.  If you've ever seen the bomber jackets that have the distressed look, that's what I'm looking for.

Here's a sample of something similar to what I'm talking about.

I thought I had a sample book with it in it, but I can't find it now.  If anyone knows of a supplier with this, Please let me know.

Mike,

I just watched your YouTube upholstery videos.  They were great!  I'm sure they will help a lot of people on the forum.

Nice progress on the bus too!

I think you'll appreciate the link I posted to the boat build and pictures.  You may even get some ideas from him for your bus!

I stumbled across this site quite a while back when I was searching for info on building a small sneak boat to use in small ponds and creeks.

This is a FAR cry from what I was searching for, but I found this project very interesting.  This guy does some amazing woodworking.  Actually, he does a lot of amazing work, including some of his upholstery work too.

Here's a link to his site.  He has documented his progress in great detail and I thought the members on this forum would appreciate his attention to the smallest details.

For the best experience, start at the beginning rather than skipping around.

Hope you enjoy his work as much as I do.  BTW, you can sign up to get periodic email updates from him.  I usually receive one every 3-6 months, so you're not bombarded with emails.

ENJOY!

Hi Bobby havn a good time ?

Your just a nooby :)

Definitely a noob, compared to some of you!  Can't tell you how much I've learned from you guys!

Yeah Mike, we had a good time.  Nine days at Mickey's house is just a little too much fun for me!  :o  I'm ready to leave in about 4 or 5 days. ;D  Our sone just LOVES it though, so it's more for him....and the wifey!  She's a Disney fanatic too!

I got several orders while we were gone, so I'm ready to sew a little....and get some rest!  Also gotta go on the "PLAN" and lose some of my Disney pounds!  We really eat good, actually too much, while we're there.  If it wasn't for all of the walking, I guess it'd be worse.

Good thing I popped in to let everyone know I'm still alive!  :D

Still reading threads and fighting spammers, though the spammers are getting less and less since Ken updated software.

I've been on vacation at Disney for the last 2 weeks.  Today is the first day I've been online since we left.  Spending the night in Daytona at a Comfort Suites.  It has FREE wifi......French Quarter at Disney didn't!

hiya

there is a jumbled letters code for new members registering so i don't quite
know how the spammers got in ?
It could have been when the board was having some problems during the migration
to the new host. also The board was running an old version with some security
bugs so they may have been exploited ? version is upto date now so we'll
just have to see how it goes.

Quite often a lot of spammers register on a board and never actually post ?
why i don't know, very odd .

As usual please report spammers by clicking the link in the bottom right of the post window
and although only Ken and Hdflame can delete the account I will delete the posts as i see them.

Regards
Rich

Ever since I started helping with the board I've had it set up with the squiggly letters and numbers but somehow they get past it.  I have it set as high of security as possible with this software.

I don't have any option to ask them a question and have them answer it.  I think it I did, that would help a lot.

Ken said he was moving the forum to a new server and host.  Maybe that will help.

I typically get 5 -10 reported spammers a day that one of us deletes.

I don't know the right answer.....now if I could get them in my sites....I'd blast 'em with my ole 45!

I have only one question for you...............

Where the hell have you been ???????????????????

Hey DUDE!

Just been busy making motorcycle gear and teaching.  I'm still helping fight the spammers but haven't posted much.  Still glancing over the posts though.

How's it going with you?

I need to buy some #4 spur grommets and would love to find a self piercing one.

I was thinking that Miami Mike had posted on here one time about selling self piercing SS grommets.  Anybody have a source for them?

So far I've just been using the cheap brass coated ones from Lowe's and setting with hammer.  I have to have some with a 1/2" hole in the middle, that's why I need the #4.

I just wanted to let everyone know about a mistake that was made RIGHT by www.fabricsupply.com.

First off, let me say that I have ordered from them in the past and received fast service and GREAT prices!  Never had any problems.  :D

I recently ordered 30 yards of heavy tonneau material that was on sale for $3.95/yard.  This is my second order of this material.  Great material at an even better price!  I still had a little left, but knew I needed to re-order to finish up a couple of jobs that I had started but not finished yet.

When the material came in, I immediately noticed that it was a different grain pattern from my last order. :o  I sent them an email and asked what they could do to fix it.

They said that there was a mistake in pulling the wrong material, and that they would give me a 25% refund on the material if I could use it.  That was great, but I still needed to get another 30 yards of material in the correct grain pattern.  I told them I would keep the material, but asked if they would be willing to ship out the new roll with free shipping.

I got a reply back that they're shipping out another roll with the 25% credit on the first roll with free shipping on the second roll, no questions asked! ;) ;D :D  And even included the tracking number!

You can't ask for better support than that!

We all make mistakes in our business, but it sure is nice when a company bends over backwards to make it right!  I know we have other suppliers on this forum that stand behind their products and services, and I just wanted to let everyone know how satisfied I've been with www.fabricsupply.com  It helps us all out when we let each other know when we have problems, but it also helps to know there's good companies out there too.

I highly recommend that you check them out.  I'm on their mailing list and get a sales flyer monthly, with great deals.

THANKS TAMMY and FABRIC SUPPLY!  800-645-9998

If you have a company that's treated you right, tell us about it!

You can sharpen the soapstone with sandpaper.  I've been using it and like it.  It doesn't dull as quick as chalk.

Very nice job Peppy!  It L@@KS like a new boat!  Wait....it IS a new boat! ;D

Sailrite pushes their http://www.sailrite.com/Soapstone-Marking-Pencil-White for marking on fabric.  I've seen it in several of their videos.  So I bought a couple of them and so far I like it.  The retail price is $5.10.  Round marker with NO refill.

Good ole Harbor Freight has a 4 Piece Soapstone Marker Set for $3.99.  I got one on sale that was cheaper than that, but don't remember the exact price.  It comes with a round marker and a refill plus a rectangle marker and refill.
http://www.harborfreight.com/4-piece-soapstone-marker-set-46051.html

I just checked, and the Harbor freight marker is on back order, but you may pick one up at your local store.  I had bought mine for welding use and never thought about using it for fabric.  Guess what, it works great too and it's cheaper.

Just wanted to share this with all of my buddies on the forum.  I know we've talked about markers before and I don't think soapstone ever came up.  Doesn't work too good on vinyl, but I've still got my silver marking pens for that and they work awesome!

Hope this helps someone out!
