yes you know how  people are breaking down  your  doors to buy a  shop .  i aint holding my breath . when it comes to it i will just close the doors and sell off  what i can

C&S in Savannah Ga  . delivers  ever month  and call me when they are coming  save a ton on  glue  and foam . they do charge a drop fee of $15.00  . glad to pay that

I'm I foolish to send car and boat jobs to someone who does it all, cars, boats and my specialty "furniture."

Lately I've taken Sofas advice and offer a vague non-committal answer.

the reason i do some of it all i live in a small town and  now that the furniture is built so cheep i can`t git enough to  keep me and my help busy i  don`t turn  anything down that i can do or my  employees  can do . we also do some refinishing

i am working on retirement now  at 68  and 50 years in the buisnes  i am ready to  git out .

i do it all here  . i am the only car trim shop in 30 miles  and still slow  . and the only  furniture  shop  within 60 miles . i have 2  workers  one is  car man and the other is  furniture . i am owner and supervisor  over all as i can`  stand and do the work like  i did . furniture is slow and i was going for the car market . now with the economy  like it is and got two  workers    i don`t turn nothing down . not even a refinish job . i do have a large building over 100 ft long and 40 ft wide .

upholster is when you put your gun  in the holster .lol

some  mfg. needs to start making  furniture for over weight people  . not just a bigger chair  but a  bigger  better built  chair .

it is all about labor  the material is  not that much expens  . you can find  a lot of closeout @ $3.00 a yard that is 20 bucks for material with  8 hours at $75.00  per hour  to paye for  supplies and overhead expense  but no matter what color you put on a piece it is the wrong color for the one looking at to buy . i have given away  pieces that i was stuck with and some i can`t give away .

my foam supplier delivers every month and i git it in 54 x75 sheets . thy are  $131 90 a sheet the lux foam .
reg poly is 4x78x80 it is $142.80 .

i use a  binks  spray  tank  all i have to do is clean the head because it some times start building up on the  head . all i do is spray carb cleaner on it and wipe it off . it is ready to go again . a cheep  pressure fed  guin at  walmart will work just have to refill often .i am using the head off a gun on  my  binks  tank now

it is harder to sell a business  that has your name especially the last name . when you sell and the new owner has to change it you are just buying the  equipment . like the other post why change the name . easier to change yours .not legal  but  if you bought the business that should have been in the deal and  a signed agrement that he can`t go back into the same business  for a XX 3 of years .

i do work for Farmers  furniture . the manager said he sells good furniture   aint that a joke  . he said  knows good furniture  lol ,
junk by the truck load and that is my story and i am sticking to it.
