I've carried a pocket knife since I was a kid. A few years ago I took to wearing an olfa knife in a sheath. It's faster and easier to draw, doesn't need sharpening and I don't care what I have to cut or pry with it.

One of the guys I used to work with puts his leatherman on before his watch in the morning. I have seen how many times a day he uses it,and tried carrying one but just found it too bulky and cumbersome. By the time you already have a cell phone and the Olfa knife and a tape measure and a ring of keys on a beltloop etc..it starts to feel like you're wearing fighting order again. Hmmm---a bayonet would make a pretty cool field expedient pry bar mind you.

I've worked with some of the young bulls furniture stores hire. If I were the customer ( or in this case the son) I would have a lot more faith when I saw some experience show up at the door. Old people know stuff, as the shirt says.

With vinyl a heat gun can be your best friend. Some people use steam.

I don't want to get into politics or religion too deeply either. That said, I commend your decision to join that group and learn their take on things. I thing that spirituality comes from within--not what this denomination or that beats into us. If more of us spent some time trying to understand the other fellow's opinion, we would be less inclined to argue.

I would suggest John Steinbeck's "to a god unknown" as must read. If you have questions consult a native elder.

I generally "tack" the four centres [with my stapler held at an angle so I can pull the staples easily], just to keep things straight and then pull the corners as tight as I can. Two ideas come to mind;

If it is tufted you can use a wood screws and  snaps to mount it to the wall and cover those with durasnap buttons.

If it isn't tufted you can still use those big picture hangers that they use to mount mantelpieces etc...Just put them on "upside down" so that the backs slide up into place and then let the seat cushion run under the back to hold it up.

I assume you mean something like Sluyter 476 in a spray bomb. I live by that stuff! I call it "liquid pins". I don't expect it to hold much most of the time ---just keep things in place until I sew them.

e.g ) zipper install---spray the edge, fold over 1/2" and sew in the zipper. Add a piece of vintex to a boat tarp where it may chafe ---glue the patch in place and then scrunch the tarp under the needle. Etc...

My thoughts exactly. There was a follow up on the history of two of the buildings involved that lead to some very interesting stories on that same community discussion board. I found it very informative.

I will be following this thread closely. i have a set of these and have had the same quarry for a while.

Originally I planed to just screw the replacement webbing to the inside of the frame once I have to fix them [I don' throw anything out LOL ] , but how would I get it tight enough ? My new plan is to make straps that would wrap almost all the way around the frame and back and put eyelets in the ends. I can then lace the two ends together, underneath the chair, with some para cord. 

This too is non upholstery but a massive fire here in Brandon has made the headlines of our nation weather network (and others) and i wanted to share with my friends here ( I don't face book LOL).

So Saturday I was working sales on the RV side of the business and it was "Mat tag repairman" dead. My boss went to town to do some personal business and called to let me know that down town was on fire. I followed it on the radio. There were 4 separate fires that required the assistance of fire departments for the local armed forces base and at least 4 other towns, some as far away as 50 miles.

The area involved is in the original part of town. It is the northern edge of the business section. Both Christy's Office plus and Massey Manor were/are classified as "Historic Buildings". Collyers (sp) and the boxing club were in an old frame building east of chrysty's. The beer vendor/defunked night club were on the ground floor of a 5 story hotel (also vacant) a block south and 2 blocks east of the original blaze and 1 block south of collyiers.

One of my friends/co-worker lives 1 block south and 1 block east of that fire. He called a couple of times yesterday with updates. As of 8 PM crews were still on the ground "mopping up". 

No I'm talking about the 18 oz. tarp material with the fiberglass scrim in it. Comes in a 60" wide roll for making equipment covers and tarps etc..

Maybe Mojo or someone knows what it is most commonly called in the States. I get it from 3 different suppliers, and they all have a different name for it LOL.  [Zues,Sampson.Tarpaulin]

This stuff has zero stretch and you cannot tear it. I always have a bin full of remnants, so it's more or less free as well.

i have used jute webbing too, but for the last few years I've been using Herculite (Vintex , what ever your supplier calls it) pulled tight over a sufficient frame.

I have no  issues with someone smoking a bit of weed, or them legalizing. It's like prohibition everyone still drank and it clogged the courts with petty charges while the rapists and murderers wait 2 and 3 years for a trial.

Mu issue is the way it is being done. Our prime minister decides that we should legalize a substance that has been banned for a very long time. Yeah, gets him the pothead vote. BUT  he has no plan as to how this will work. He has calculated how much tax revenue he will take and use for stupid promises he made to another special interest group to get their vote, but the nuts and bolts of regulation like minimum age and where it can be sold etc... has just been pawned off on the provinces. Here, make my dream work without any federal direction or legislation to enforce.

I was hoping that some one here could tell me how their state ( or applicable jurisdiction) regulates the legal sale and use of marijuana. So far the province of Manitoba has decided that you will  only be able to smoke it at home and each town/city will have to decide where it can be sold. WTF. With alcohol their are regulations including must be 18 or 19+, you may only purchase hard liquor and wine from provincially run shops, if a cop feels you have had a drink he can administer a road side breath test and proceed with charges of impaired driving etc.. if you fail. You may make X liters of home made wine or beer but you cannot run a still etc...

To be more specific I guess my questions would be ;How many plants am I allowed to grow myself? Where and when can I go buy some and from whom? Let's say I sample some on the way home. what does the cop do? If I buy a six pack of beer for instance and get pulled over, I can be charged with open liquor if the package it comes in is not sealed or it is within arms reach of the driver. If one of the bottles is open or missing i will immediately given a road side breath analysis and we proceed from there.  Are there any "real" guide lines out there like at .08 I'm drunk. 

My most gratifying moment came as an apprentice shoe maker. The master had just stepped out to get his lunch when a very frail and elderly lady came in to pick up her shoes. She was hunched over  both canes and  shuffled slowly as I lead her to a seat. By  the time I got her seated and retrieved her shoes Walter was back with his lunch and took over. I hung around the doorway to the back shop to watch as it was a pair that I had made. She put the shoes on and stood up to the hunched position she had come in in and stopped dead. She took one pace forward and then stood fully erect and a tear came to her eye. She then proceeded to walk the length (ten feet) of the show room and back with her canes hooked over her arm, looking 20 years healthier than when she shuffled in. Being the class gentleman that he was, once she quit hugging him and sopping, my mater pointed out that I had made her shoes. She hugged him again. I guess she knew where the talent had come from LOL.
