Those are Turkish chairs. They mold right to each person that sits in them, very comfortable but they cost a fortune to do, many customers opt out of having them done. Excellent work on them. I turn them away because I do not have the time it takes to do them.

Cotton is used for a good base and building up, like on inside arms, instead of cardboard and foam. I use cotton all the time. I use bonded Dacron on cushions and to cover cotton when using light colored fabrics as the oil from real cotton shows thru and sometimes the oils in natural will discolor also. You can get natural from Albany Foam and Supply in NY State USA or Irvin Alan Fabrics, you can get a box of three rolls. I like there cotton the best, it splits really nice. There is also Vincent Manufacturing in Little Falls, NY, USA, I believe the manufacture the cotton in house, natural.

I would never make it here with that pricing. I charge $100 per cushion 4" and more for 5" and 6".  Just for the insert, so if I am doing just a cushion job $100 per cushion for the foam and then a minimum of $100 per cushion labor plus the fabric. The cost of living here is steep so I need to charge much more and luckily I have the clientele that can foot the bill. If I charge too little I will loose the customers.

SofaDoc, you probably got Guardsman Fabric Protector and Mohawk Finishing sells it. You can do their plan which is a warranty Protection Plan where you buy the 5 gallon pail at a great price and you sell the program to your customers. It used to be like $150 for a sofa and the warranty covers stains, rips burns and so on. The manufacture will pay to repair or replace the fabric if not remedied by the guidelines. Excellent product. I buy by the gallon and use an electric paint sprayer, I charge 50-100 bucks no warranty, sometimes I do for free, it is not a big deal and so easy to apply.

I am currently paying 83.29 for a sheet 4X24x108 2.6 Density, 35 Compression. This price is cost, so I charge my customers $85 per cushion on a sofa. I always have the first cushion pay for the cost of the sheet of foam, the other cushions pay shipping, labor to wrap with Dacron and fill into the cover. I had a customer who looked up this company and saw what I pay and would not pay me the mark up, now they can not get the foam from the supplier but their prices should not be available to the public. I lost the customer which is fine, I don't think they would have been happy with any price I gave them. The job was just replacing the foam. I definitely get my supplies for much less then JoAnns and the quality blows them away. Most if not all foam is made here in the states and the high end tools but I can get cotton and tools from Renovators Supply for less and that is just not right!!! I am here to make a living not give it away.

Sounds like you have a dressmakers skirt and they rarely come with buckram, or also known as skirt stiffner, that is all you need if you want a nice tailored skirt , just use the stiffner, the weights will not look as nice. I would leave the skirt alone, I am sure they like this look. Your profit margin drops considerably when you over think the job. As far as yardage 7 yards. Here is a formula for figuring yardage and will give you basic yardage for a given piece. Will need to add extra for repeats, dressmakers skirts and extra pillows. Measure all the way around the piece at the widest point, multiply times two and divide by 36 this will give you your yardage. So, 40+40+24+24=128 X 2=256 divided by 36 = 7.1 yards

A designer is a project manager and is schoole in every aspect of a building, heat, electric, plumbing, carpentry and upholstery is a tiny part of their job. They get all the awesome fabrics because they are licensed. A Decorator is just that, one who decorats a house, might buy furniture, lamps, vase, flowers but is not licensed to work as a designer. There is a huge difference therefore their quality of fabrics are very much different.mI work with both but mostly interior designers and with that some reall cool and expensive fabrics and usually really nice to work with. I am working with an embroidered silk right now, heavy like sail cloth. Love being on the coast because most everything is solid whites, not much matching lol. I do get some but love the plain linens, flax, and other natural fibers however these are mostly 5000-10,000 rubs. Have you notice the average uph. fabric used to be about $30 a yard in 2001 and now the average is $50  for us upholsters to sell. Most of the designer fabrics I work with are well over $300 a yard. The silk I am working with right now is $395 a yard.

This could mean several things, Flange: like the link above, or it could just be a pleated skirt, normally a pleat every 4" sometimes lined sometimes not. Or it could be a skirt with a tape or border on the bottom edge of the shirt, but more then likely a flange added to the skirt. I did a job where all the fusions had a ruffled flange on them.

The buttons are just a different generation as with anything else. They found a cheaper, easier, faster way of making button parts and that is what we have today and they really are cheap crap. Don't worry about it, it does not make any difference what kind of button it is, they all do the same thing. The "channel" on the lower part of the chair is in fact not channels but just a pleated band. The buttons are just for decoration, they have no purpose. As far as buttons in a channeled inside back, if they are put in where the top of the arm meets the back going in a horizontal line across the inside back this looks really awesome and have done several times.

I just wish wholesale was really wholesale.
