I'm trying to decide what the right binder attachment I need for marine carpet.. I have a Consew 206 RB-5.. It seems reasonable to me that we would need a 1" tape binder with an opening large enough for the thickness of a 24oz carpet...

What would be my best option??  Thanks all..

General Discussion / Re: Added a Juki to the Family
August 18, 2011, 04:15:37 am
I am in the process of setting up my marine upholstery shop here in Branford, CT.. and was also thinking of getting a Juki as as second..

I bought my Consew from Greg and now I'm convinced that getting a Juki is a good decision.. so that being said.. I'm on a quest to find a decent used Juki as an addition to my shop..

General Discussion / Thread for Marine Upholstery
July 29, 2011, 07:16:29 am
I'd like to get some opinions on the best thread for marine upholstery..

Interior seating and cushions and outdoor vinyl and canvas..

Some of the threads I'm interested in are Polymatic, Tenara and SolarFix PTFE 2000 denier thread...

It seems the Sunguard gives me more trouble than it's worth..   Thanks..

General Discussion / Re: A new canvas school
July 29, 2011, 07:12:48 am
Being that I'm getting started with a new shop soon.. I looked into the school since it's located in the neighboring state.. I'm in CT..
Right now with 99.5% of my start-up capital invested in rent, equipment, inventory and other business expenses.. the cost just isn't in my budget.. quite expensive..

So far I've been getting a lot of good advice right here on this forum.. Not that I won't take a course in the future..

I'd be interested in any instructional DVDs or the like.. to better educate myself on boat covers.. in-box me if you might wanna make a deal... thanks..

Looking for recommendations of what hand tools are a MUST in getting started for marine upholstery.. I was working with someone else previously and they were his tools.. Also - any suggestions for where is the best place to purchase upholstery tools..
