Thank you for all the help. I have ordered new needles (size 22). A sharp needles makes quite a difference. I wish I would have ordered more things with the needles, shipping is ridiculous. Half of what they cost.

I buy my needles by the 100.  Much cheaper, and they don't go bad...no expiration date! lol

I've also found the best buy on needles is on eBay.  I usually always get FREE shipping.

How do I get someone's previous post (quotes) onto my reply post? These are the boxes with blue background that appear as
"quotes" and people then post their reply underneath them.

First, you have to be logged in to the forum.  Then, at the top right of the post, there is a button that says "quote".  Click on that and then reply in the area below the quote when the window opens.

Sooooo, are you saying this thread has been hijacked?  Or maybe the better question would be how many times? lol

Thanks Bobby.quite the list. I'd like to see some pics some time.

Darren,

Here's a link to my PhotoBucket account.  There's a lot of pictures of Ural gear that I make.  Look for the Ural albums on the left side of the page.

There's a few pics on my website but I'm still working on it.

What all gear do you make Bobby? A friend of mine back in Kenora has a Ural and most of his upgrades (larger oil pan, better coils etc...) and the second saddle and hand rest he got from Germany.

A little over three years ago he hit a deer with it. The deer came up between the bike and the hack and rubbed him off onto the asphalt and cartwheeled the rig. His dog was okay; but the femur he broke never did heal and then the bone died so he's been back and forth from crutches to a wheel chair since . They finally installed a titanium femur/ceramic hip a couple of months ago and if it went well I'm sure he'll be itching to re-finish the bike. I know the saddle and hand hold were damaged pretty good, and one mirror.

Darren,

Check out the link to my website in my signature.  I'm in the middle of trying to make some changes and  updates.  Most of what I make is at least listed on the "Products" page.

Dental floss will outlast polyester thread.  Most of it is a PTEF fiber like Tenara and Solarfix.

Tenara is too expensive..........I floss with 69 nylon :D

That's funny, I don't care who you are!

I could only imagine just how uncomfortable they would be if using acrylics. Especially some of the Sattlers. There are a couple colors that have a pretty stiff hand to them.

I sent off a bunch of my cuttings to Mike802 and he made fireplace log carriers from them. :)

Chris

That's a good idea!  I've been thinking about making a couple of those re-usable shopping bags.  I use one I got from Tandy Leather to carry my food in to the fire station.

Hmmm, I just noticed that this was going to be my 1500th post!

.................I know a guy who lives by me who travels to all the big motorcycle rallys and does seats out of an enclosed trailer. He does REAL well and knocks down some big money. I believe he did close to $ 20 K at Sturgis alone. That is his niche and he has carved out a good business doing it.

Chris

Chris,

I remember you telling me about him a couple of years ago.  I'd still love to get up with him and go out to Sturgis to help him one year.  If nothing else, it'd be good experience.

Oh well.  There were some on here that felt we just needed the general discussion board.  I find that I usually go there first when I stop by, and usually don't even make it to the others!

It shows Bobby. Otherwise you'd have put your truck seat thread in 'The Green Room' ;)

Well, I started to post it in the "Green Room", but since the description says it's for current jobs...and, since I'd already finished it....and, it had a "How To Fabricate a Bucket Seat" thread that should've been in the "How'd You Do That???" forum....I thought I'd just post it in the General Discussion where I knew everybody would see it!  hehe

Looks like none of us can follow directions, huh? lol

Bobby:

I am not sure about using it in your neck of the woods but adhesive backed anything in Florida seems to create nothing but problems..................... There are over 5 miles of wires inside many of these coaches and I didn't want to run the risk of hitting one. :(

Chris

Chris,

That's why I figured that these might work for you.  I know exactly what you're talking about when it comes to heat and adhesive!  I guess I figured that Sailrite had tested these if they were offering them for use in Marine applications.

I haven't been as frequent on here as I used to be, but I remember you talking about not being happy doing the solar screens.  I knew you were getting bored with the same old thing day in and day out.  Looks like you've found a new niche that will keep you challenged for a while.

Just don't get to the point that you're having too many sleepless nights while making all that money on the snow birds! :)

I kinda found a little niche as well.  I've been specializing in Ural motorcycle gear.  Not a real big market, but one that I've had good luck in filling.  Since I own a Ural, I knew some of what was needed.  That helped me design the products that I'm currently making.

Don't get to the point where it's no longer fun, or you'll be dreading working on awnings.  You don't want them to get like the solar screens.  Funny how much changes on here when you don't visit for a while!

Good talking to you.  BTW, do you have a website?
