General Discussion / some personal projects

last month I gought a boat lift dover frame it was 16' wide by 30' long I cut anf spliced each bow down to 12' wide and shorten the top to 26' long

mocked it in the side yard

after measure for the cover I installed it on my lift pillings working from in my 20 fishing boat. I had to slide the fame back and forth tp assemble it

then I cut and sewed the canvas using odesey 3
that was fun installing it with grometts and ball bungys to secure it
and then before I could get back to installing the new motor into my crownline deckboat I bought a used elevator boat lift online so I didn't have to use the old pia davits I have on the seawall

were I got it

I installed the lift myself using a pump to jet the I beams intro the canal. the hardest part was threanching 150 feet of 220v cable.  now my covered lift is ready for the deackboat once the motor is in

the davit are a pain musling the arms in with the boat hanging on them

today I rented a mini backhoe to install the motor in the deckboat this morning got it done before the afternoon rain.

last month I picked up a 99 deckboat. it wasn't selling do to the condition of the seats so I got  a steal of a deal I didn't let if known I was in the bis till after the deal when I took my truck to go tow it home.
anyway I always plat it safe and go white with stripes ect. but decided to fo tans like the new boats. and went lighter color where I would be dark and darker colors were I would be lighter playing it safe. im happy with the look. so I worked Saturday and sunday and got most don't cut the captiand seat one seat bottom and the coaming panel by the helm.  I was thinking of maybe flipping it .
but well see

General Discussion / did some work for me today
June 27, 2015, 04:51:23 pm
I wanted to work on my own boat today so sunday I need to make a mooring cover pattern sunday at the shop , but today was for me. I made a aft curtain mainly to keep the rain water weight out of my boat when its on it boat lift. the boats 5500pound dry and with the amout of rain that can fall in a short time in the summer here I thought it best. plus my coaming pads will stay nice. I made it to fit with my aft flyshade also .
Its a large cover so I used recacril so I wouldn't have any future streach sag. most customer I see have shrinkage . I have a  wide span with no snaps at the stern across the motors with its own slack so I didn't want any extra.

the shade top attaches to the top with LTD's so the aft curtain is under it with straps and sidere;ease buckles to the grabrail on the arch. makes for good air ventilation at the top with some overhang of the hardtop to keep the rain out

the rear shade is supported with boat hook straps for support are optional.
also installed and snaked the cable for a new 8 foot vhf antenna on the port side arch

ve always used canned sprayglue   or used weldwood by brush and ro 5 ller but im redoing the hulliner in my boat and want to try spraying and got a cup gun with  the glue.

I think I remember reading that you don't need to cleam the gun after each use cant be right. ?
