Dunno about you folks but regarding the gathering of Sunbrella.
Machine set up ,and style of sewing aside.  (each to their own)
'Tiz sad to say but Sunbrella aint what it used to be..   It's crap these days.
It has no guts to it at all.  As for the 80 inch wide it's diabolical,
It may as well be dress fabric.
The  PU coated is much better as stiffness goes but the sticky backing  collects all the dirt and stays sticky and filthy forever..
Had a word with the Sunbrolly rep, He went on about the finishing of the fabric and the resin baths all the while he's pushing his extensive range of  Glen Raven furniture fabrics. Guess the core of the business has taken another route..
Ooo while I'm on a rant , Standards at  Strataglass are slipping too.
When I'm paying through the snout for supposedly the best product for the job
The barrel being marked grade A
I expect ALL the sheets within to be dam-near perfect.
    NEW  "Strataglass " Same price but  Now with extra bubbles and blemishes  !

   Been fkn about  with PTFE threads for some time now (Years)
   On all sorts of machines on a few different continents.
     I concur with your good self  on the Solarfix product ,
    Although denier is something for professional discussion ...
    Thinner Monofil (1300ish)  or thicker braided (2500ish)
    Depends on how deeper groove you would like to wear around your tension pegs.
   Top-loading Singer/Seiko/Juki as opposed to sideloading Consew/ Sieko/ K6 Singer
    It's all fun and games getting to know what works well with what.
Anyhow, good to know there are still some decent machine mechanix out there.

   Where the hell did I leave the puppy stick ?
   Perhaps I could take this one back to the 'shop , set it up on the floor
   and make a quick half pattern !
    With ropes and cables everywhere and the boom to hit my head on ,
          There's never enough room to work on these little blow-boats.   ::)

Oh so that's how ya supposed to do them...
       I knew I should have gone to MCTI and got a proper schooling since
     they never mentioned bars at dressmaking class. 
         Just  wondering why mine turn out excrement 'every time'...

  Seems I get all these little blow boats to play on..
  Easy job on this one , Instructions were "If it's varnished , cover it"
    O yeah and have the covers lined to avoid chafe.
  As for the never ending array of padded bags for anything that goes in the     lazarette .. Of course everything had to be done quick-sharp as the boat was leaving.... Rather pedantic folks on this 1938 restored J boat too

  Sews straight thru' fingers and not even breaks the needle,
     The needle is a nail with a hole in it tho'.
         The 1inch stitch length comes in handy for those intricate jobs.
          ::)

  Didn't notice the the breathing apparatus in the box with the hot knife.
   What's wrong with a panel saw and some elbow grease anyhow,
    ::)

  Dang-it , I almost miss living 'state-side'....
   Those girl scout cookies made with real gurl-scout were so good,
     Even the chewy bitz !
 As for the Holiday brownies they always got me so light headed and then
     soooooo sleeepy for some reason... 8)
